Okay, I saw The Odyssey and ten-year-old me hates it

So I posted about the Kickstarter that Harvey Pekar's daughter huge is running to fund sorting his huge archive of papers. She put some stuff on ebay to help raise funds, too. I couldn't pass on this. Harvey's copy of Rolling Stone from June 1970, with coverage of the Kent State Massacre!

Fascinating. X-Men and Sandman are not the least bit surprising, but Batman is. Is it because Batman is such a cultural juggernaut or because his female villains are so rad? I love this.

About fifteen years ago, I did an informal survey by asking every female comics reader what Marvel or DC book hooked them into comics, if at all. It was Batman, X-Men and Sandman by huge margins, Spider-Man wasn’t even in the top ten. Something about the movies? That was a long time ago…

A behavior of mine that my Canadian friends politely try to correct is I wish everyone a "Happy [holiday no matter how mundane]," like this morning when I texted them "Happy Civic Holiday!" How do I explain to them their efforts are fruitless, because I absolutely did this in the US too
