Here's a video I took of our setup form #vcfwest - 8000 Dandelion, two 6085 Daybreaks, 1100 Dolphin, Dicentra sitting on top, and finally the Alto. Thanks to everyone who stopped by - @dectape.bsky.social and I had a great show!

Day one of #vcfwest was a hit! Thanks everyone that stopped by my and @dectape.bsky.social 's exhibit!
We are all loaded-in and set up for VCF West! Come by and see us tomorrow and Sunday at CHM!
Xerox gear deployed. (Josh is standing in front of the Alto, I'm in front of the Dolphin)
Next weekend Josh and I will be giving a demo of Xerox systems at VCF West - every generation of computer hardware they sold form the Alto, to the Dorado, the Dolphin, Dandelion, and Daybreak. A rare chance to see the whole lineage in one place - working!
Here's the laser path on a 1981 Xerox 8040 Electronic Printer - the one sold with the Star office system. Note the helium neon laser - a modulator bends the beam. That's why there appear to be 2 beams in the photo. Light strikes the spinning polygon mirror causing it to scan.

I've got an interesting restoration ahead of me: a Xerox 8000 server and 8040 Laser Printer!
After several hours of moving things, repacking and playing Tetris to fit it all into @compu85.bsky.social ‘s truck we are ready for the 13 or so hour trip back.
Yesterday Josh Dersch and Jason Perkins stopped by to do some fan maintenance on MissPiggy and power up the Nova-3. Thank you for your volunteer hours! icm.museum
Watching Adrian begin to scope the amount of work he's got going on that Lisa's I/O board reminds me of the job I had to do a few years back where it was easier to just strip that corner of the board, remove the failing masking and replace traces and sockets as per the schematic.
@deviantollam.bsky.social thanks to your great talks I know what this jewel is for! You might've ridden this elevator actually... and it's not in a hospital!
2 out of 3 ain't bad :) despite some issues with the disk controller in one Daybreak #vcfwest is going well!
After some fussing, all my VCF West systems are cooperating 😎
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by David Greelish about my work. We discuss LisaGUI, our own experiences with the Lisa, and how UIs have changed over time. Please give it a watch and share it! #appleLisa #retrocomputing #computerhistory #gui #ux #ui #apple #macintosh #vintagecomputing

The kinds of documents you can make on modern computers, like the Xerox Daybreak, are almost limitless!
I'm using @celgen.org 's method for making KeyTronic keyboard foams. Double stick truck bed topper tape, and Mylar. Omit the mounting circle, just double stick them to the key sliders!
Some photos comparing the AppleColor 100 digital RGB monitor to a composite Tek / Sony display. The RGB display really looks great!!
Today is a very sad day for the Apple community Bill Atkinson has died at the age of 74 😢 He was Apple employee number 51 & the principal designer & developer of the Lisa GUI. He was also among the first 30 members of the original Apple Macintosh development team. He was a true programing legend.🫡
Bill Atkinson was one of the most brilliant, imaginative, and compelling people I ever had the privilege to work with. His vision touched every device you use today. And his heart, his open love and humanity, exceeded all of that.
Tried a couple Plus HardCards. One works well, the other is sad. youtu.be/s6ax1rxuyPE

Washed my 88 Audi 5000. Cleans up nice for 280,000 miles! I do want to get it repainted... up close it's in rather poor shape.
