Why won't the UK Government join Bluesky, when they are on the cesspit that is X, plus tiktok, Instagram, Threads etc?
Me, having fully committed to exercising more in 2026.
How stupid of me to be cutting onions at this time of the day. 😭

It just seems so obvious doesn't it? I had such high hopes for Labour when they were voted in, but their apparent determination to be as cruel as their predecessors (and those who hope to succeed them) is so disappointing.
The main issue facing any UK government isn't actually the number of people seeking asylum, in the grand scheme, proportionally, we aren't talking about huge figures, especially when compared per capita to countries such as France, but the constant images we see in the media. 1/
The UK is being governed for 30% 👉 30% still back Brexit 👉 30% want to leave the ECHR Yet govt, Tories & Reform all rule as if that’s a mandate. The 60% majority who want sanity, rights & Europe? Silenced.
The policy of the US under Trump can be fairly summarised in three impulses. To be cruel to those they can be cruel. To intimidate those whom they can intimidate. And to gain leverage in respect of those they want to manipulate. Almost everything comes down to one or more of these impulses.
Horrifying. I wonder how many others are in the same position as this poor man.
Jesus Christ, this is horrifying. slate.com/news-and-pol...
Probably the most repulsive repulsive display from Trump I can remember. Disgusting doesn't even come close to describing what's just happened.
The Trump/Zelensky exchange is truly appalling for all involved.
Kamala wasn't perfect but she absolutely had Trump's number.
Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.
No one can say the signs aren't there in plain sight. Scary times.
All my life I have studied democratization and autocratization. My 1st field trip was to newly democratic Argentina. I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes Trump has already checked off.
What's the saying? Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it, or words to that effect? It feels like the world is coming to a real crossroads, which could easily lead to a very dark place.
Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.
It feels like his behaviour is being treated as if it's completely normal by a lot of the news outlets. Just a little raised eyebrow here and there, but no real condemnation. Scary times ahead.
Not appreciating the #r4today chuckling tone about Trump. A ‘What is he like?’ feel to it. When what he’s like is a convicted felon who’s pardoned insurrectionists, plans to leave the WHO and the Paris Climate Accord and is threatening mass deportations. Nothing remotely amusing about any of that.
TLDR: Stop telling young adults to cancel Netflix and instead acknowledge that life is an uphill battle for most of them!
Great piece from John Sturgis here about how fucking grim it is for anyone aged 18-40 nowadays. www.spectator.co.uk/article/glas...
