“Since attacking Iran…Trump’s immediate demands have shrunk from a sprawling list of concessions involving Tehran’s nuclear ambitions, ballistic missile production and support for proxy militias to just one: that Iran allow…Hormuz to return to its prewar state.” giftarticle.ft.com/giftarticle/...

You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

Todd Blanche's last-minute promise won over Senators Cornyn & Tillis, but shouldn't have. The "deal" leaves Trump's tax immunity intact. It confirms what the Senators should have already known about Blanche's lack of fitness to be AG. My analysis: open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

What should we do about prison over-crowding? At a conference a few years ago I was told that in Norway once convicted you don’t necessarily go to prison right away: you often have to wait for a place to come up, like you wait for an operation in the NHS. It’s a fascinatingly different perspective.

Blanche gave Cornyn/Tillis a fake deal, which is not a legally binding modification of the original agreement signed by all parties like they demanded, & kept IRS immunity, so they can surrender while declaring victory. Just more theater from worthless Republicans in the senate.

Trump Deal Bingo: Hint of a deal Suspicion of a deal Inkling of a deal Rumour of a deal Concept of a deal Suspicion of a deal Parameters of a deal Memorandum of understanding Close to a deal A whisker from a deal Imminent deal Agreed deal Note: "Implemented deal" is a deliberate omission.

More important, it’s crap negotiating technique. He constantly reveals that, despite the threats and claims, he actually has absolutely nothing positive which he can deliver, and nothing negative he can impose. He never leaves any uncertainty in their mind nor room for manoeuvre on his side.

I’m not sure whether this is just a psychological difference or AI bros fundamentally don’t understand the nature of an artistic experience, but: I don’t want a personalised film/book/podcast. I want to see/read/hear the same one as everyone else, so I can read reviews or discuss it with my friends

Just saw The Odyssey. Casting Matt Damon as Leopold Bloom was brave, but it really worked. Tom Holland good as Stephen Dedalus too. Anne Hathaway brilliant as Molly, but wish they had not cut her soliloquy. Wasn’t familiar with which bits of Dublin they used, but that didn‘t seem to matter.
