Correlated Noise

Usually post about photography and whatever nerd shit I'm up to. Background in NetSec and commercial fireworks in the Ohio River Valley. Slowly remembering I have hobbies. Vehemently Antifascist. He/Him

Now I have 7 rolls to develop because I keep telling myself to wait and do color all at once. Is it because I want to use freshly mixed chemicals or is it a Faustian bargain that lets me procrastinate?

Downtown’s done up for BLINK which is like a projected light art show across the city. The question is, do I try pushing Aerocolor IV within an inch of its life or see if Dodd has some faster color in stock?

My taste is all over the place so it was brutal narrowing things down. Kinda went for albums I listen to front to back repeatedly across different genres (or in the case of FLCL and the pillows, what altered my brain chemistry)

My 9 Albums:
No Gods / No Managers by Choking Victim
Let's Face it by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Necronomidonkeykongimicon by Goblin Cock
Волшебство by Даша и Серёжа
Modal Soul by Nujabes
FLCL OST No.3 by the pillows
No Help for the Mighty Ones by SubRosa
Crystal Castles self titled
I Want to Die in New Orleans by $uicideboy$

i hate doing these because i tend to agonise over them but then i remembered it’s just fun for your online pals to see some albums you like and it doesn’t matter if you missed one or they aren’t the definitive 9 or whatever

Cookin with gas, I'm reading and writing to registers. Also a bit too dumb this late at night to stumble my way into doing anything useful because that would require math and it's mushy smooth brain time.

Someone is going to criticize the code here, but it's just me trial and erroring my way into making my own library for an ambient light meter IC. The screenshot shows:

print(f"Device ID Register Value: {bin(this_opt4001.device_id)}")
print(f"Default Config Mode:")
print(f"{this_opt4001.orig_config.to_bytes(2)}")
print(f"New Config Mode:")
print(f"{this_opt4001.new_config.to_bytes(2)}")

CircuitPython REPL
soft reboot
code.py output:
Device ID Register Value: 0b100100001
Default Config Mode:
b'\x00\x03'
New Config Mode:
b'\x00\x01'

Went back to DIY light meter since I’m waiting on clutch plates. These lil baby SOT583 breakout boards came a week or so ago. Waaay easier to bust out the SMD rework station than trying to directly solder wires to the pins

A 2mm by 1mm light meter IC on a lil baby breakout board.

Popped the sides of the crank case back off and pulled the clutch again and the friction plates are… dissolving? Were their binders fucking water soluble????? All I did when i first pulled them off was wipe them down and then soak them in new oil, and the housing already looks like before

Okay, finished getting the bike back together and went to just get gas down the road. Clutch gave out again. So far pushed the bike halfway home uphill. Christ, it’s a good thing i quit smoking when I turned 30

That series regulator/rectifier ratfucked off a seadoo is the same bolt pattern as the cheapo shunt R/R, but it’s a wee bit longer. Made an ugly bracket with random aluminum stock to rotate it and it clears the starter and carb fine. Need to paint it and grab a shorter bolt though

The aforementioned new to me regulator/rectifier almost free floating between all the other engine components

Got the head back on and valves set. Clutch is back in, which was a handful even with stopping to fab a tool to help, but it wooorks! And it’s super smooth! Now I just need to put the left side of the crank case back on and put the rest of the bike back together

Got the cylinder head off, valves and seals are good. The sleeve and piston head look fine, so I think we’re all good besides.. cleaning the rest of the gross out. Currently flushing all the choccy milk out of the oil cooler

I’ve become rather proficient at working on the Himalayan and I don’t know if that’s a good thing lmao Good news is, so far, there’s no real damage from Tuesday’s blind corner oopsie into a flash flooded road. Still need to take the head off for peace of mind though

Look who’s back, it’s the Himalayan 411 but with the right side of the crank case half stripped and some disgusting watery brown oil underneath it
