I don’t think any of the people saying this sort of thing, literally any of them, have any of idea of what Stevens was actually like in Congress or the hustings. “From outside Michigan” must mean “from social media”. She was a better than average Democratic rep with a very solid electoral record.

Sports are way better. Music is better, as there is so much more of it. News snd info is much much MUCH more available. Weed is immeasurably better. People are way better in bed. The computer is better! Basically almost anything I have a real interest in is much better than when I was growing up.

Righteous stuff from Stevens, who ran extremely well to turn out her vote in the face of a lot of doom and naysaying at the end. You count her politics out at your peril, no matter how distasteful it is.
