Craig Burley (the other one). He/him, cis, all power to the people. Look me up anywhere. I’m going. (He does not move.)

Ok maybe she's much better known within Congress but she's some random backbencher right? Like picking Porter as an example of someone with no leadership positions but who has some media presence, there's a huge (orders of magnitude) difference

The Right seems to think PressProgress is dying. That couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s been an eventful few weeks here at PressProgress. Here are some updates 👇🏽

I don’t think any of the people saying this sort of thing, literally any of them, have any of idea of what Stevens was actually like in Congress or the hustings. “From outside Michigan” must mean “from social media”. She was a better than average Democratic rep with a very solid electoral record.

Ok not to be one of those "I can't believe the margin was so close" annoyingoids from discover but like ... from outside Michigan I do not understand the mind of a Stevens voter. Like what

Sports are way better. Music is better, as there is so much more of it. News snd info is much much MUCH more available. Weed is immeasurably better. People are way better in bed. The computer is better! Basically almost anything I have a real interest in is much better than when I was growing up.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

At some level, each of us who writes things lives in fear that one day someone will read it back to us and ask, “do you really mean that?”

One day longer, 11 weeks stronger! We visited OPSEU local 249's picket line to drop off groceries on behalf of PSAC Hamilton Area Council. Nobody should have to work 3 jobs to make ends meet. Send a message to Doug Ford at worthfightingfor.ca & stop by a picket line near you to show your support! ✊🏻

the fact that it doesn't make sense to have elite women athletes compete directly against elite men athletes in most sports (hardly all! and there should be more real exceptions!) is the reason for women's sports! "couldn't beat a team of elite (amateur, youth, whatever) men" is Not An Argument

Ex-PM Starmer said, in response to Raise the Colours terrorising people, ‘I am supporter of flags’, ‘I’m very encouraging of flags. I think they’re patriotic and I think they’re a great symbol of our nation’ and his family had ‘got St George’s flag in our flat’ www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Raise the Colours Oxfordshire organiser Ben Cullen head-butted a highways worker after police were called to McDonalds in Benson where highways staff were attempting to remove flags from lamp posts;
Highways staff now wear unbranded PPE, work in unbranded vehicles, wear face coverings to hide their identity, and do not travel alone for fear of attacks;
Highways staff working on streetlight maintenance, not flag removal, have been spat on and abused by RTC supporters;
Cullen and his partner Trudy Wells posted the office addresses and phone numbers of highways depots online, leading to comments suggesting “hanging council workers from those same lamp posts”;
RTC Oxfordshire fixed trackers to the vehicles used by highways staff, then used this to find out their home addresses – which have been published online, and repeated to staff with threatening messages;
Highways depots now have to remain locked at all times;
A highways contractor’s sponsorship of a children’s football club is being rethought after concerns that children could be targeted.

The campaign of harassment and intimidation Raise the Colours have undertaken against council staff, contractors, and members of the public as reported by the Clarion today is shocking if not surprising. Excellent reporting. oxfordclarion.uk/the-clarion-...

I had a very angry and uncomfortable confrontation with a stranger on Sunday night, where I intervened in a hate incident, and it’s lingered far longer and more damagingly than I would have preferred. Even a brief discussion with a close friend confirmed that my disquiet is significant.
