He/they Writer, Queer, constantly struggling but trying.

#FaveLineFriday I started working on a new short story for #ChroniclesOfTheRealms. This one is set during the Nightmare Eclipse, a day when the sun rises shrouded in shadows, a consequence of the time when Archdevil Azamul ate the God of the Sun, and it's from #KitanaSuêòng POV. #WriteSky

Every year, on the twenty-fourth day of the Hawthorn Cycle, the sun engulfed the realm in a nightmare. Every year, Kitana was kept locked inside the Palace of the Golden Seed, watching as disciples of the Twin Dragons and the Order of Light, as well as an assortment of Breathbinders, slayers, mystics, and all sorts of adrenaline- and glory-seeking wanderers, battled the demonic hordes that invaded Edenia.

Not this time.

She finished lacing her sandals—though she didn’t plan on going beyond Dueóng, she didn’t want to wade through demonic gore with her bare feet, either—and checked her fans once again. The leaf, fashioned from the purest silk of the daó'réa, reflected the light of the bonfires scattered throughout the city, and the feather-shaped sticks and guards glinted like the fangs of a covetous beast. Soon.

I have become morally obligated to start talking about Reapers here because my friend and I are going to be cosplaying two of the characters from it at Anime Milwaukee next Saturday.

#FaveLineFriday “I’ll be fine! I’ve made this trip a million times and nothing ever happens!” With a wave, she headed off, a bit of a skip in her step. Something about the sight of her disappearing into the woods left Jack with a gnawing worry in her gut.

Not story line, but a line in a description: "A Paladin’s power is that of a promise so deep, so thoroughly, truly meant, that to break it leaves them lacking something that has no real name, but creates an ache in a person’s very soul should it be lost." The severity of this just feels perfect!

I'm feeling pretty chill today, so I figured why not try something new? 1 like = 1 world building fact about my frog people! I've been meaning to talk about them for a while!

I don't know how everyone else's night is going, but I just spent a few hours talking writing with my partner and I've walked away from it with some very lovely frog people for one of my WIPs.

In my fantasy WIP, probably the grandest thing in existence is The Library of Souls. It's the domain of the God of Fate and holds every book They've ever penned, each the story of a mortal that has lived, and it contains a book for every single mortal ever. It's never been seen so art of it varies.

#JanuaryWorldbuilders For me, one of the most enjoyable things about worldbuilding is coming up with grand ideas: scenery, a building, a tree, a planet, anything you consider big, beautiful, imposing, grand, majestic... pick your synonym. Tell me about it

3. What's something grand or majestic in your world?

I'm Cryptic, and I'll probably be working on lots of different worlds throughout this year because of my attention span. Right now though, I'm focused on two: The fantasy world of a WIP I've been poking at for a few years, and a modern mixed with magic world for a new WIP.

Welcome to a new year of worldbuilding! Let's kick off this year with Day 1 of #JanuaryWorldbuilders in which I ask you: tell me about yourself and the world(s) you're building. Just a general overviews. We'll get into the weeds throughout the year

Between figuring out why I was stuck on world building on an old WIP a few days ago (trying to do way too much in too small a space) and last night having a fully formed opening scene pop into my head while I was trying to sleep, I realized what I've been looking for this whole time (1/?)

The little thing making me happy today is the animatic I've been imagining in my head of my No Wrong Heroes characters set to Epic's God Games. Listening to it made me realize how I wanted to handle a certain part of No Wrong Heroes, specifically Thor having to actually earn Hercules' resurrection.

So, gonna be completely real. I know I said I was gonna do nice little WIP moodboards and introduce all my WIPs properly and what not. But life keeps smacking me around. I'll have a good day or two and then the next will gut punch me. So instead I'm going to post whatever makes me happy that day.

Me: Hm, I think I'm starting to calm down from all the hectic life things! Life: Hey, what if you forgot that space heater has a history of overloading the electrical and it overloaded the are you have your computer plugged in? Me: What?

So, I've been thinking about my D&D inspired WIP again (Thank you @jaxwolffwrites.bsky.social for enabling me to ramble about my Elves), and I do want to get back to it. But as I'm thinking about it, I'm realizing that what I really want is to figure out sharing info about all of my WIPs here. (1/?)

So, just to be clear, if you have anything that treats AI as a positive on your profile and interact with my stuff, I will block you. I don't care if I sound like "Old Man Yells at Cloud" or whatever. I want nothing to do with it, I'm tired of hearing about it, and I'm going to use the block button.

Didn't expect a description practice scene to be the first writing thing I shared, but I'm really happy with this! And would love to know what people think these creatures look like!

For the small village, the morning had been peaceful. Everyone was focused on their tasks, trying to make sure everything in their new home was ready for the coming winter. That peace was shattered when one of the townsfolk who had gone out to forage came back in a rush, shaking and frantic, barely able to communicate at first.

In an instant, they were surrounded by worried faces, the crowd all desperate to know what had them so rattled. Once given a chance to catch their breath and really think, they were finally able to speak and tell the whole town gathered around them about what they saw, doing their best to describe the monstrous creatures they’d encountered.

They spoke of creatures that towered over them, easily hundreds, if not thousands or more times larger than they were, with incredibly long bodies, walking on two limbs, with another two sticking out of the tops of their torsos, those two splitting at the ends, only to branch out into five distinct feet. The alone had the townsfolk whispering amongst each other, doubt starting to spread. Yet the forager continued, seeming not to notice the shift in attitude amongst the others.

They spoke of the masses of antennae that hung limply from their heads, moving not quite as one unit, but in waves, dangling down their backs and around their squishy, bulbous faces, beady eyes that seemed to focus intently on specific points that the forager couldn’t understand the importance of. Whatever the importance though, whenever they seemed to focus on the right thing, their faces would split almost in half, revealing a maw of teeth the forager assured the townsfolk were the size of their head! And the sounds those maws made, complex, confusing noises that boomed through the woods, either bringing others closer or somehow repelling them, the louder they were, the more likely the others were to stop sometimes, when others they would rush over, leaving the forager feeling like the whole world was shaking around them as they watched, unable to understand them.

No one could seem to calm the forager or get them to stop rambling, them continuing to talk about the colorful patches of loose flesh that hung around their bodies, that didn’t seem to quite move with the rest of their bodies, often blowing back, or flattening, as if gravity affected those pieces of them differently than the rest of their bodies.

Another townsfolk, a builder known for their calm, steady attitude, tried to step forward and assure the forager that somehow, this must be their imagination playing tricks on them, that such a creature couldn’t possibly exist. Unfortunately, that just made the forager more frantic, insisting these creatures were the size of small trees, shaking the ground with each step and shattering branches that got in their way, only to seem to not even notice the destruction they left in their wake, whole roads’ worth of foliage trampled for their paths.

Finally, someone was able to convince them to go rest, and as the forager was escorted away, the townsfolk were left to whisper amongst each other, unsure how much of that description to believe, and where the forager could have gotten these ideas if they weren’t true.

Trying to write a fitting horror description for the first time in my life and showing it to people feels very "Please don't be too grosssed out, but also please tell me this creature sounds disgusting!"
