Because I have talked to many folks who have confirmed it’s just “how things used to be”, but: Going out to a diner with a small group and talking is just as valid a way to interact in person with folks in the fandom as going to a convention, if not more so.

Concerning trend I see online is using social justice language as a mask when talking about issues that at their core are interpersonal conflict. There is nothing wrong with feeling anger, envy, or hurt towards someone, but we need to talk about this in private with our support circles.
