Are they really going to ban fursuits for being "non-thematic" when so many faire shops sell tails, elf ears, antler headbands? Fantasy has always been at the heart of MD Rennfest. And you know they're not going to police other "non-thematic headwear" like baseball caps and sunglasses.

Maryland Renaissance festival has explicitly banned fursuits. I never suited there but like…come on. This isn’t a living history museum. Renn faires were created by counterculture hippies who managed to invent wrap pants and convinced people the world they’re historical.

Headwear Restrictions

All headwear must be removable and thematic to the event upon entering the village gate.

Inappropriate, offensive and non-thematic headwear will not be permitted through the festival gates. This includes inappropriate face paint, offensive prosthetics, and fursuits, for example. Face-coverings must be removed upon entering the village gate after which they can be worn as intended.

If you see Cedar Waxwings lying on the ground together like this, it’s likely they’re drunk off fermented berries. Sometimes birds make poor decisions with friends in the name of fun. They’re just like us fr fr.

one thing I like about birdsong is they didn’t have to do that. Plenty of other animals get by without the singing. they just found a way to communicate that works for them and also happens to be nice and pleasant for me to experience from a middle distance on a sunny Thursday morning

"Dreams of Sunbeams" (Bronze-Winged Pionus) 18”x18” oil on stretched canvas I will miss you, always A memorial painting of my girl, four years in the making.

A square format oil painting of a bronze-winged pionus. She is sitting with her back to us, in a sunbeam, reaching under her right wing to preen. She is iridescent and multicolored with rich blues, bronzes, greens, and grey colors. A hunk of petrified wood with a rich array of blue grey, white, and tan streaks is the parrot's perch. A messy halo of caustic light surrounds her. The painting has an artist's watermark that reads Copyright 2026 Jennifer Miller Nambroth, featherdust dot comA cropped detail close-up of the prior image. The brush strokes are more obvious in this close-up.

Small child outside has been screaming bloody murder for five minutes straight because his tricycle is too difficult to pedal across the grass. I get that he's gotta learn emotional regulation but ... maybe one of the adults chaperoning could try giving him a push??? sounds like he is being tortured
