100% this. I can recognize tropes while also being entertained. I’m certain I’m not alone in this.

A big problem I have with modern "criticism" is how people now think that average means bad. Anything less than an 8/10 or 9/10 means that it is on par with something actually awful. Everything has to be either "absolute cinema" or "the worst thing ever made" with no room in between.
Something I really like about Gravity Falls is that Alex Hirsch continues to be based along with people who worked on the show who became creators themselves like Matt Braly and Dana Terrace.

It won't solve everything, though. Nothing ever can. And even as things improve, there WILL always be those who hyperfixate on what HASN'T improved, and ignore what has. And I don't want to be one of them.
I'm ultimately in it for the long haul and I'm happy to be patient in whatever narrative my life ends up being. The trick is that it goes faster when you're not checking it over and over or thinking your narrative is the only correct one. (Any writing class tells you that.)

This is, and I am not even joking, going to fuck up so many hyperlexic kids. I got accused of plagiarism because I used the word “porous” in a sixth grade paper and that shit sticks with you, if not on the permanent record, then in the childhood.

100%. Don’t let TERFs colonize the narrative here. Most studies show that lesbians are far more likely to be trans accepting than almost any other group. It’s just, as queer ppl, we’re more likely to be in proximity to a lesbian transphobe than a straight one.

Literally cis lesbians support trans people more than other trans people do. Don't let your (very understandable) fears get in the way of having rly cool friends
