I'm genuinely incensed by the lack of local multiplayer in gaming today. The Gears of War remake doesn't have couch co-op on Steam. GEARS OF WAR ffs. Star Wars Galactic Racer doesn't. Back 4 Blood doesn't. Halo MC clCollection doesn't. Seems like it's only Mario Kart, party games, or fighters.

seeing conservative men debate how to dress online is very funny. can't dress up or wear interesting casualwear bc you've made any visible interest in dress to be a sign of homosexuality. but you feel the need to dress better bc you've linked dress to respectability. a prison of your own making.
Not having to wait 10 years for a new 2D Metroid game is frankly way more exciting than the Ocarina remake. Hell yeah.
As PlayStation and Xbox raise prices on generic consoles that do more of the same, the "retro" handhelds offer an exciting (and cheaper) alternative. ... if you can find one.

I'm headed to OFFF+Forum design conference in Montréal this week if anyone wants to hook up for coffee! Not really connected to the design world on here but maybe this is how it starts?! Pumped to connect with fellow designers & digital storytellers. #OFFF
Games media publications big and small have been working overtime to show the full scale of fuckery happening at Microsoft. I get that shit sucks. And the media can always do better. But this “nobody is as smart and bold as me and my Bluesky pals” posturing is so tired and unhelpful
It's wild how 70% of the stories on the Microsoft game studio layoffs and carnage don't think it's worth noting that the company went on a studio acquisition spree three years ago that involved lying constantly about the vast benefits of mindless consolidation just not useful context, apparently
When I visited IO Interactive last December for Game Informer's 007 First Light cover story, there was a palpable excitement around the Copenhagen-based studio every time they even mentioned Project Fantasy, even if they couldn't say anything about it. IO is such a talented studio, and I hate this.

To tack onto this, I'm adding "recent titles that should go into your best of the year consideration, and I know it's hard to cover so many so that's why this system is broken but you need to keep them in mind or simply find a new system which you should but here are more games to play"
There's other folks who do Steam sale recommendation threads, and you should perhaps check them out because they cover a lot of extremely neat looking games that I haven't played, so you'll get a wide variety of deep cuts and sicko picks to delight you. First off, Dominic Tarason's big ass thread:
And then the comments below are just people talking about how much they enjoyed the movie. Maybe, just maybe, the problem is crap like this that has an vested interest in telling us we don't like movies with women and will never in a billion years focus that lens on male led films.
I've removed all social media from my phone and after a few weeks of my phone being for text, maps, and music, I'm setting up an RSS feed for the first time to take back my devices from tech company algorithms. I miss the days when technology served us.
This morning, I've seen - Kotaku hire @adashtra.bsky.social - A huge, high-touch new video from People Make Games - @mothership.blog in a partnership with The Flytrap and Autonomy News - More new stories than I have time to read - And (selfishly) I launched EGOTY Games media refuses to die

it felt trivial at times to be writing about video games at rikers, which is so notoriously dangerous for incarcerated people. still, play and, specifically, video games are a meaningful piece of the lives of the ~12 young men i met and played with at rikers. read: www.nytimes.com/2026/04/27/a...

Titanium Court is so good. The music is excellent, and I'm so hyped on the premise of a Match-Three / Autochess / Visual Novel ??? After listening to the developer, AP, interviewed on @plante.bsky.social's podcast I was like, "How is Match-Three an untapped genre?" I was blind but now I see, AP.
The Post Games 1-year anniversary is about a month away! One goal I'd love to hit is 500 reviews on Apple Podcast. If you like the show and have 60 seconds to spare, a short review would be a tremendous help. 🥰 (Thank you for amplifying my work for more folks to hear!)

GODDAMN I love making comics. Okay. So we did a story very dear to my heart in Uncanny X-Men, about mutants during the Jim Crow era, called THE DARK ARTERY. It featured a new character named LADY HENRIETTA, and people just took to her in a beautiful way. They asked for more. 1/
