I am not that old. In the early years of my career before i comprehensively put my foot down i would regularly find books in my work mailbox with notes from male colleagues instructing me to copy this chapter or that for them

Because admin staff were mostly women, female academics were considered equivalent. There to perform service, not to undertake intellectual work. Of course it was more complex than this, but that's the broad picture. #AcademicSky

Saturday brain wandering! Early med foil dies. Could they have been given to the 'client', so there couldn't be a copy of that exact helmet made? or perhaps so it could be repaired in future? Doesn't seem that finds of dies necessarily = makers in locale, as so often is written... #Archaeology 🏺

A CuA foil die from Kent with a dancing man with swords and a torc on his head... well it's not really a torc, I think it's supposed to be snakes kissing, but it looks like a torc. Anyway, I'm not an early medievalist so what would i know, eh??
