The Postal Service is exactly that: a service. One that brings us our medicine, allows us to vote, and reaches every neighbor no matter how rural because it is a service not driven by profit seeking.

MHVDSA HAS OVER 1,000 MEMBERS! 📣‼️ We’re building a multiracial working class movement to put power in the hands of the many, not the elite few. To quote Jane McAlevey, “The 1% have a vast armory of material resources and political special forces, but the 99% have an army.” 🌹 mhvdsa.org/join

My seventh monthly ward meeting will be on Friday, 7/31 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at 505 Main St. I'll give updates and answer questions. City of Poughkeepsie Ward 8 constituents can email datonna@cityofpoughkeepsie.gov to get my monthly newsletter and meeting invites. Thanks!

It’s July 1. Today, nearly half a million New Yorkers will lose healthcare. Governor Hochul could have stopped this for less than 1% of the final state budget. Instead, she put wealthy donors over our lives.

450,000
NEW
YORKERS
LOSE THEIR
HEALTHCARE TODAYIt's July 1.
Today, over 450,000 New Yorkers will be kicked off their
Essential Plan healthcare coverage.
During budget negotiations, we called on Governor Hochul to tax the rich and stop this healthcare catastrophe. She refused.New York's Essential Plan previously covered households making up to 250% of the federal poverty line, or:
$39,900 for a single adult with no children
$80,375 for a family of fourTrump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act decimated healthcare spending.
In response, New York shrunk eligibility for the Essential Plan from 250% to 200% of the federal poverty line.
The change takes effect today.
Nearly half a million will lose insurance.

Central Hudson raised our gas and electric rates again on 7/1, but grid resiliency has gotten worse! Many of my constituents lost power for 3 days. We need the Hudson Valley Power Authority, a public utility that will invest in trimming trees, burying lines, and lowering bills.

We tabled and marched throughout the Hudson Valley this Pride to talk to community members about democratic socialism and to build support for our legislative priorities like NY Health Act, Gender-Affirming Care Access Program, and a 24/7 hotline for LGBTQIA+ individuals in need.

I enjoyed celebrating Pride in Poughkeepsie, New Paltz, Newburgh, and Kingston with @mhvdsa.bsky.social 🌈 Trump, the Supreme Court, and many states are attacking trans people and the entire LGBTQIA+ community. We will never stop organizing to demand the freedom and dignity we deserve ✊

We only have 8 days left to elect champions who will stand up to the corporate establishment. Taxing the rich, abolishing ICE, universal childcare, green social housing & more all start with winning these races. Get out the vote before June 23! dsa.nyc/gotv

It was great to be with past City of Poughkeepsie Eighth Ward Councilmember Megan Deichler and current City of Poughkeepsie Eighth Ward Councilmember Daniel Atonna at Saturday’s Dutchess County Pride Parade.

Strong candidate (state elected with a base) + strategic district (most Democratic in the US) + populist Left platform (Medicare For All, Abolish ICE, Free Palestine) + knock 100k doors + grassroots fundraising + savvy comms + key endorsements = Win. It's not easy, but DSA can do it! 🌹

There is a new Democratic Socialist in Congress. DSA congratulates our member Chris Rabb on his election for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District. This victory would not have been possible without the work of thousands of working class people across Philadelphia organizing for a better world.

Chris Rabb Wins!

Pennsylvania's third district
Chris Rabb, a Black man with a shaved head and a neat salt-and-pepper beard, looks to the side. He has a warm, confident smile. He is wearing red glasses, a black quarter zip sweater, and a warm grey suit jacket.

My fourth monthly ward meeting will be on Monday, 4/27 from 6-8 PM on Zoom. City of Poughkeepsie Ward 8 residents can comment below, direct message me, or email datonna@cityofpoughkeepsie.gov to get on my list for updates about in-person or virtual ward meetings. Thanks!

“With what we’ve accomplished in 14 weeks, imagine what we can do together in four years.” Zohran’s sewer socialism is showing that government can work for working people — and that we shouldn’t settle for less.

I was proud to join @mhvdsa.bsky.social protesting the illegal US-Israel war on Iran. Trump threatened genocide of 93 million Iranians by saying “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” Congress should impeach then remove him and block all funding for bombs!

I took office just over a month ago with a mandate to fight for an Astoria & Long Island City we can afford. Today, I voted YES on the Assembly's budget proposal which includes a version of my bill with @sengonzalezny.bsky.social to raise taxes on NYC's wealthiest corporations & raise $1.7 billion.

He's back and ready to secure a well-deserved win for the working class people of State Assembly District 65! Proud to endorse Illapa Sairitupac to take the fight against deportation, displacement, and climate catastrophe all the way to Albany.
