I built a vocabulary game where after learning a new word, you have to use it on social media to prove you actually learned it. It works on Farcaster and X so far, and I’m thinking about bringing it to bluesky next. Wonder if people here would like that type of game?

The cryptographers on this app will talk about how awesome RCS is because it is standards-based E2EE without acknowledging that the underlying standards are a recipe for centralizing the operators. We need a different way forward.

RCS isn't truly an open standard or open ecosystem. It isn't open to anyone making a client working with any carriers which can interoperate with the Apple and Google implementations. Google does device integrity checks which supposedly exist to combat spam without testing it works on GrapheneOS.

I think I get why the US environmental movement went so wrong. It's really hard to get people to support local solutions to global problems, the only way is to ally with dumb reactionaries. But if your movement is full of dumb reactionaries, after a while your solutions will be reactionary and dumb

This is wild, the .fi TLD registrar is compromised apparently. Domain names & DNS are not—and never will be—a secure DID method. x.com/i/status/204...

I know it's difficult but you gotta channel the deepest, most intense neurodivergent hyperfixation into the subject. Then haters will bounce off you for the same reason 'video games are for nerds' was pure background noise to the kids who were trying to take their consoles apart to see how they work

It's basically impossible to have any sort of nuanced discussion on this site about AI without it devolving into a shouting match about it. People are genuinely angry about it for a lot of valid reasons and are channeling that anger into completely destructive and toxic ways online.

Can I run @pds.ls to browse a dev-env PDS? I can see a list of dids on the localhost PDS, but I can't actually inspect any of them, because then I just get "missing PDS", no did document exists presumably, but I should be able to just skip that part and see the data anyway.

Glad Zuck is standing up to Palo Alto NIMBYs. Anybody, including Zuck, should be allowed to run a local school in their home, free from nanny state bullshit. What you should be mad about is people poorer than Zuck who don't have the cash & lawyers to stand up to petty permitting lawfare from NIMBYs
