Caring has been central to my life, and the lives of millions across the country. I'll be meeting the Prime Minister today to discuss how we can finally find a solution to the care crisis. We need to do things differently. I really hope we are on a journey to fix this.

I feel hopeful about the talks today on fixing our broken care system but this is just the beginning. A solution is desperately needed. I will always stand up for family carers through this process.

We cannot fix the NHS without fixing social care. @libdems.org.uk have been calling for cross-party talks to fix social care for a long time. Andy Burnham needs to listen, take action and help us deliver a long-term solution.

Four weeks of going through the new Health Bill, and now it is time to head back to Winchester for the summer. It has been a long couple of weeks but I am excited to begin my summer tour and revisit this legislation in September.

Our chalk streams are incredibly precious and need protecting. It was absolutely brilliant to join the newly founded Chalk Streams All Party Parliamentary Group to discuss what we can do in Parliament to protect these unique ecosystems.

As summer holidays are nearly upon us, I joined colleagues in asking the Secretary of State for fair funding for rural bus services for children. We know that kids in rural areas rely on these services to get out and about over the summer holidays, so it is vital that they receive fair funding.

Farmers in Britain are rightly held to high animal welfare and public health standards. If we allow food labelling and trade deals to undercut these standards, we risk not just our public health but our food security also.

Britain's broken political system needs fixing. Proportional representation, real devolution, an elected second chamber and a written constitution would help deliver it. If Andy Burnham is serious about changing politics, our door is open.

At the moment, animal cruelty convictions and domestic abuse risk assessments sit in separate systems that don't routinely speak to each other. This isn't just about protecting animals. It's about recognising danger earlier, preventing future violence and protecting women, children and animals.

Those who abuse animals are much more likely to go on to abuse people. It is unthinkable that there is no register of animal abusers available to organisations trying to keep people and animals safe. This needs to change.

We need a new Veterinary Surgeons Act to make the veterinary profession and industry fit for the 21st Century. With the imminent change in Prime Minister and the consequent reshuffle, I asked for assurances that updating the Veterinary Surgeons Act will not be put on the back burner.

The Chancellor has the power to stop Farage's cynical ploy. I've written to her this morning urging her to act. Farage should not be allowed to resign until the investigation into his dodgy dealings has concluded. The people of Clacton deserve the facts first.

While Farage is orchestrating pointless stunts benefiting nobody, colleagues like @helenmorganlibdem.bsky.social and I are doing our jobs in Parliament, working on the Health Bill Committee, to make sure the NHS can be improved and new health contracts prioritise the UK economy and data protection.

With all the sunshine we have been having recently, it was a good time to raise Winchester City Council's solar panel scheme. This is bringing down bills and protecting the environment. I urged the Minister to celebrate this success, and support other Councils to roll out similar schemes.
