Lead Audio Engineer @ Sledgehammer Games Makes Call of Duty Opinions are my own

When I say I'm an audio engineer I don't mean I do audio recording and mixing, I mean that I had to learn how wav file data is structured so I can write a custom parser to get the one little bit of data I need without having to sift through the entire file.

Not only has Will's partner been forced to return to Australia as well, but their two dogs have been left stranded in Edinburgh for several months. Tragically, their older dog's health has since deteriorated. She will no longer be able to make it back to Melbourne to be reunited with her family.

Will's dog, Abby.

In October last year I was fired by Rockstar Games in what we believe was a union busting move. We lost our home. We lost 2 jobs with my partner being forced to resign. We lost a community. Most importantly however we had to leave our two dogs behind, one of which will never return.

Back in October, Rockstar Games fired 34 employees for alleged gross misconduct. The severity of these firings could have spelled the end for a burgeoning union effort that was underway, but it didn't. In fact, the union is now *bigger* than it's ever been before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym4z...

The police in the U.K. last night were not able to keep up with the 999 calls after women were battered by their drunk boyfriends and husbands. Children too. Because England lost a football game. You fucking weak ass fragile pieces of shit. You over emotional child men cnuts.

Some photographs from the 'Save Our Devs' rallies in Rockville, Montreal, Dallas, Austin, and Redmond—held yesterday in protest of the latest mass layoffs at Xbox. I'm told by a union organiser that over 150 employees turned out in Rockville alone.

I gotta say regardless of how you feel about AI, AI companies getting other businesses to completely reshape their entire operations around AI, then hiking the prices is a genius diabolical move. But also, how did those businesses not see it coming? Like, no shit they were going to do that.

"Game dev is one of those jobs you only do when you really want to. It's not going to make your parents proud, you're unlikely to get rich in an industry that lays off people for making superhits, and its a demanding & confrontative job. Why would you let a machine do the thing you're here to do?"

I spent the last few months talking to over 30 game developers about generative AI. It began as a sort of interview survey but became a pretty comprehensive collection of arguments against the technology altogether. www.gamesradar.com/games/why-so...

BREAKING: Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off. Lots still in flux as many studios remain unsure about what's happening. Here's the latest: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

There is a direct connection between Musk becoming a trillionaire and your current financial precarity. Every dollar he makes that he can’t possibly spend is effectively a dollar that ceases to exist: a dollar out of the economy, out of your pocket. He gets richer at all the world’s expense.
