Realist in *that* Portland trying to keep up with the current shitstorm. Supervised by a hummingbird. Picky eater finally learning to cook. Unexpected Portland Fire fan. Other stuff. 🐸 #VoteBlue

I wrote this thread earlier for two reasons: 1. To put this win into context so we remind ourselves to celebrate the fruits of our labor. 2. To remind us that no matter how hopeless things seem - and Nov 2024 was the epitome of hopelessness - there is a path out of the darkness.

HOW WE GOT HERE - A Thread I’d like everyone to remember how we arrived at this moment in history. Yes, the lies, incompetence and corruption of Trump and his Republican enablers smoothed our path to victory. But we would not have celebrated as many wins without our hard work and perseverance.

We all know there have been changes to the USPS, but today I received a marketing mailer from a local credit union that says... "Postmaster please mail by:" ... 10/28. "Time Sensitive". Let this be a warning for sending your holiday season stuff.

Went to bed Tuesday night as the blue tsunami was happening and woke up Wednesday morning to Christmas season. Besides local businesses with Christmas lights up, just saw a decorated car driving down the street and a light shaped tree in someone's livingroom. It feels like hope out there! 🎄

Open Enrollment: It appears hearing aid coverage will disappear next year from my plan? If this could affect you or your dependents, confirm it asap and plan accordingly. I coincidentally am picking up a new pair next week but even then, they're barely covered now. 🦻

Amen to all of this, but especially the bragging part. The New Deal was constantly advertising itself and the Great Society too. Take a lesson from them -- you can't just do good things and expect voters to notice. You've got to brag about what you've done. A lot.

I suspect the real place for Democrats to solidify this win will be at the state and local level. That's where Ds have the chance of IMMEDIATELY making change and helping people in their everyday lives. Push your local pols to Mamdanify the shit out of the entire country, y'all. And BRAG about it.

Last year, Hegseth abruptly removed Nancy Lacore from command. No public explanation was provided. Afterwards, she ran for office and has flipped a seat in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District. She will now have the constitutional authority to investigate and oversee his department.
