Some time ago I entered a portfolio of images of mist-filled woodlands to the 'Photographing the British Isles' comp. I made it to the final 3 but didn't win. Here are the images anyway, as they represent one of things I like doing most - picking out fleeting moments amongst the trees. #PhotoRippin

I lived in the foggiest part of NS. I love the fog (i love storms too, so sue me). The change from yellow sun to grey, and the way it hides the tops of buildings never ceases to amaze and please me. It rolls in like a wall, and burns off like the smoke of a dying campfire. The atmosphere is cool!

The image shows a dark curved horizon, with small orange vand above it, and a broader band of white and blue further up. In the upper part of the image numerous light blue threads are visible. These are noctilucent clouds, seen from aside and so visiually compressed into threads.

15 July, 1975: Soyuz 19 launches at 8:02 AM EDT. Its the first time a Russian Launch is carried on television. At 3:50 PM EDT, an Apollo spacecraft launches to meet up and dock with the Soyuz. The Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) would be the last mission for Apollo.

In my view, the absolutely coolest 76-year-old on the planet, Kristine Tompkins, former CEO of Patagonia, married to Doug Tompkins (CEO of North Face) now CEO of Tompkins Conservation, is just blowing our minds at the #EsriUC2026 . Their heroic wildlife re-wilding work making our hears soar!
