On the ecological impacts of game shooting. A controversial chapter of my new book Eat the Planet Well which did not make the final edit, but which is - I think - important. Comments welcome! youtu.be/jZMYWK16UFo
It’s well worth listening to the excellent @davegoulson.bsky.social on game shooting. It’s a thoughtful, compelling and accurate takedown of this egregious enterprise. And as Dave says, don’t eat game birds. Ever.

Jules Pretty and I chatting about the wonderful world of insects, sitting in my garden which was lush and green at the time (June). Link in first comment.
Says author Dave Goulson, “Insects are in trouble – that should concern us” Podcast for “Hope! Camera! Action!” As for the dreaded neonics: “One teaspoon would kill 1.3 billion honeybees… It mystifies me why we use them.” youtu.be/fcupGwrxNmE www.buzzsprout.com/2608197 @davegoulson.bsky.social

Lovely review of my new book, Eat The Planet Well, in the Lancet today, but sadly most of it is behind a paywall.
We're at the point where the Telegraph are literally making up quotes. I said when veg is sold for pennies in supermarkets, it's a sign someone's not being paid properly. Farmers being paid a pittance for their produce. Workers on less than a living wage in supermarkets.
If you'd like some inspiration for plants/habitats to grow/create in a wildlife garden, then have a peep at Dave's wonderful outside space.
