“They won’t insure you,” Ms. Rojas said. “No one will buy from you. You’re kind of stuck where you are.” Our political leaders might not believe in climate change, but insurance companies know the score. And it's being felt disastrously, all over the country. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Rising Home Insurance Premiums Are Eating Into Home Values in Disaster-Prone Areas (Gift Article)

Changes in the insurance market have started to affect home prices in the most disaster-prone areas, new research finds, pushing some homeowners’ finances to the breaking point.

The EPA's 2009 Endangerment Finding has underpinned recent U.S. efforts to reduce GHG emissions, and is now a target for the Trump Administration. I wrote an explainer with @woodwellclimate.bsky.social colleagues about the very endangered Endangerment Finding www.woodwellclimate.org/why-is-the-e...

Why is the Endangerment Finding so important to protect? - Woodwell Climate

The Endangerment Finding is a foundation of U.S. climate policy ant it is under threat from the presidential administration.

Today marks day 1 of public hearings on the EPA’s reconsideration of the endangerment finding, a 2009 declaration that greenhouse gases threaten public health. Follow along with us👇🧵

After many days of travel: inc four flights, 8 hours of 4x4 off roading, and a half day (and into the night) on horseback, we’ve reached the Dukha reindeer camp on the east taiga of Mongolia, just 10 miles from the Russian border. And they have starlink! 🙂

Excited to be visiting a new (to me) part of the permafrost region this month, with friend/colleague Marina Tonkopeeva of the International Centre for Reindeer husbandry, new collaborators from the Dukha indigenous community, and local science experts. I wonder what maps will come of this trip?!

The Trump administration's climate science report is riddled with cherry-picked data, sweeping claims easily contradicted by a vast body of research and long-debunked climate denial tropes. @chelseaeharvey.bsky.social and I fact-check some claims here: www.eenews.net/articles/epa...

EPA attacks climate science. Here are the facts.

The Trump administration's proposal to roll back the endangerment finding includes many misleading and inaccurate claims.

Excited to welcome the amazing Gina McCarthy to the Woodwell Center next week. As U.S. climate policy moves backward, her insight and expertise on how to move forward will be incredibly valuable. Register below to attend in-person or to watch online.

I love seeing adaptation and resilience action like this in other municipalities! The more local action we see, the better we will all be prepared. More than half of the world's population already lives in urban centres, and we also serve as emergency response hubs for rural climate disasters.

We’re proud to have worked in Chelsea, MA, to develop a granular climate risk assessment for local officials. This is a resilient community that is leading on adaptation strategies

I dug into the NSF cuts & other ways that the Trump administration is shutting down climate science. “Basically it’s a shit show,” Princeton’s Michael Oppenheimer says, “and how bad a shit show it is will depend a lot on what happens in the courts and Congress over the next few months.”

The Trump administration has shut down more than 100 climate studies

Tens of millions of dollars in NSF grants have been slashed, and scientists fear the US is about to lose a generation of climate researchers.

This is extraordinary. A database tracking legal decisions in cases where generative #AI produced hallucinated content; both fabricated citations and ficticious court rulings. 112 cases so far; 19 this month: www.damiencharlotin.com/hallucinatio... Source: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Excited to be part of the Woodwell team at the Mountain Film Festival in Telluride this week. Reach out and say hi if you happen to be at the event. Also, be sure to grab a coffee at Telco coffee shop and take a peek at some beautiful maps/art while you're here. www.telluridenews.com/news/article...
