“…the article reports research that #DataCentre growth added an est. €360 to household electricity bills between 2015 & 2023. This raises a simple question: why should ordinary people be asked to help pay for the expansion of some of the richest tech companies in the world?” #spéirghorm #IrishPol

Paying the cost of data centres
Sir, - Jack White's article ("Data-centre energy demand adds hundreds of euros to home electricity bills," May 28th) on data centre energy demand raises an issue the Irish Government can no longer ignore.
Data centres are not just an energy or climate issue; they are a cost-of-liv-ing issue too.
We are often told about the benefits of Ireland's FDI-led model. Yet the article reports research that data-cen-tre growth added an estimated €360 to household electricity bills between 2015 and 2023.
This raises a simple question: why should ordinary people be asked to help pay for the expansion of some of the richest tech companies in the world?
Irish households need honest information about these costs, and a guarantee that they will not be left paying the bill for rapidly rising corporate energy demand. - Yours, etc,

Big changes coming for Dublin now as Dessie Farrell confirms his resignation. Owes Dublin nothing whatsoever and did very well. You'd have to imagine its the last we'll see of a few big names. I think even I'll be gutted if Cluxton finally steps away #GAA

Something amazing happened to me yesterday. I went to a free concert at a local church - The Gustav Holst Ensemble - & half way through the second piece - Brahms Piano Quartet no. 3 - I noticed that tears were streaming down my face. A moment of absolute beauty. Never known anything like it.

I was bombarded non-stop for years with religious bullshit. I never believed because I had critical thinking skills. If there is ANYTHING we need to learn, it's critical thinking skills. If we teach every American critical thinking skills, we WILL transform this nation & in fact the entire world.

So clearly Trump and Co. are doing what Putin wants , there is no other explanation that fits... His government are clearly being directed to destroy relations between formerly close allies. I feel so sorry for those Americans that did not want this. As for the rest of us...
