For the past five months the only refugees the USA has accepted are white South Africans fleeing equality & safety meanwhile they are disappearing or strapping ankle monitors on any Haitian they can get ahold of. It needs to be understood how thoroughly connected these two things are.
While the SCREEN Act failed in the committee, KOSA did move forward. Contact your senators immediately demanding it be opposed, and keep the pressure up until it comes to a vote in the Senate

This is good news. Among its many horrors the SCREEN Act is an incredibly anti-trans piece of legislation, so it's good to see it fail.

I've worked in journalism for a long, long time. Trans people's skepticism about and hostility to the field is beyond merited. Honestly, I share a lot of it. I think there's a role for trans journalists when we draw upon, and learn from, the radical tradition. The example is Ida Wells, not the NYT
One of my more openly villain (positive) aspects is that I react to this kind of nonsense with the single word "weak," said with utter contempt. Those who willingly, enthusiastically use "ai" are weak-willed, ego-rotted scum. They deserve to be shamed for it.

I make better money now than I have in years. I've spent over a decade working on mutual aid supply chain stuff, partly to further reduce costs. When I had to travel recently, and rent also hit before my next paycheck, I still had to put off a med for a few days because I just didn't have the cash.
