We're constantly asked why we don't tolerate our endless violation with more dignity.

This is another way we live in rape culture; we live in a culture where we have to hear about monstrosity all the time. Sometimes I look at those top stories lists and wonder if I'm the only one who notices that two or three or four of the ten are about violence against women.

I actually think that the confusion over this question—the mistaken idea that perverts and preachers have opposing projects—is responsible for a lot of the stagnated and remedial quality of sexual politics discourses.

to quote cabaret: when you go to get a word of advice from the fat little pastor and he will tell you to love evermore / but when hunger comes a rap rat-a-tat rat-a-tat at your window see how love flies out the door. which is a more marxist analysis than this
so the article in question opens with her talking about men beating their female partners, then talks about how men exploit the concept of love to exploit women's domestic/reproductive labor, and then immediately goes into "actually, men are less likely to beat you if you just love them hard enough"
