ICE in airports means comic book conventions are gonna end up whiter as people of color decide not to travel and I think the industry needs to grapple with that.
Sam Kieth did not bend for comics. Comics bent to him. I won't call his manner of drawing merely a style because that implies some level of artifice. Maybe not since Kirby had mainstream comics seen an artist with less filter between his imagination and the printed page.
Just published a really fun interview with Al Ewing about his time at @2000ad.bsky.social which you can read on my website. www.davidhallerwrites.com/post/al-ewin... #britishcomics #2000ad #2000adcomics #alewing #alewingcomics #comicinterviews #ukcomics

Just posted a fun interview with the ace @badmachinery.com on my website. Thank you so much to John for the interview. It was so much fun doing it.
About this, there *were* attempts to pick reviewers and one person refused to show his work to a young woman when he got to the front of the queue. This kind of thing is actually not uncommon and is kind of insulting to the reviewer. We were imho far, far too nice to this guy. Don't be that person.
One thing I was very sure of, and I'm now more sure of, we made a lot of effort to keep the timetable of who was reviewing when secret, because some people (always men) like to pick favourites, and that is neither necessary or good organisationally. Seeing people you don't know is good! Also fun.
A cool one pager I wrote and lettered for the @captioncomicfest.bsky.social anthology with art by Wendie Renard (renardd_wendie on Insta).
Two young comickers who are very much worth your time, that I met at @captioncomicfest.bsky.social : @6knifes.bsky.social and @davidhallerwrites.bsky.social #comics #talent
