When a campaign official asked me to donate this drawing I did to commemorate Obama's speaking engagement in my small town being cancelled by an honest-to-goodness tornado, I thought it was going into the archives at the Obama library. Baby, it's on display!
You don't have to draw like a master to make it in comics, but you do have to draw in an engaging manner. No one can tell you how to get there, but a good teacher will know the signs.
I went right up to my limit on this Toth masterpiece, but some rich person loved it better. Peak, peak Toth, IMO. Every panel is a graduate level course.

An undersold aspect of skipping SDCC is staying in Iowa for one of the three weeks both sweet corn and tomatoes are in season.
There's no defense for the envy you'll feel as a creator when hearing all these cool SDCC announcements except getting your ass to the drawing/key board.
I generally like all these SDCC announcements, but James Harren Demon was made in a lab for me.

The final issue comes out Wednesday. It's been many years in the making, from convincing the filmmakers it could be a comic, to passing through the hands of multiple editors, and through painstaking production. Every drop of sweat paid off this weekend when a new dad told me it brought him to tears.
