This is utterly delightful. I fully support this type of celebration, at least in part because I would do the same (but with a much worse vertical).

As a nerdy kid growing up in Alaska, I felt like the film and comic book industries were a million miles away - something I would never actually get to engage with in any meaningful way. I admire the hell out of @davidharper.bsky.social for making the world seem a little smaller for future AK nerds.
A really lovely article about Eisner-winning David Harper for Anchorage Daily News. Also, an incredible author photo by Marc Lester. www.adn.com/alaska-life/...
My local paper, Anchorage Daily News, did a story about my journey (both in comics and life) and Eisner Award win, which is very cool. It's fun to go from writing for ADN to being featured by them! (There may be a couple continuity errors, but I'm not going to reach out for a No-Prize)
After a tumultuous year, Anchorage’s David Harper reaches a pinnacle of a career in comics
Last month he earned a coveted Eisner Award for his work on his website SKTCHD.

Once you read Chachu #1 today, and you should because it’s great, listen to my chat with writer Iman Vellani on Off Panel where we talk about the origins of that series, her deep love of comics and noir, the team on the book, and, yes, Ms. Marvel. It’s a wonderful conversation!

Next week brings @cjward.bsky.social to Off Panel, and while you've been able to hear him on an array of podcasts of late, I'm guessing this one will be the only show that features his dog loudly and adorably snoring in the background. I know what the people want: animal crossovers!
I think @matiasbergara.bsky.social is one of the best artists in comics, and it was a pleasure to sit down for a long conversation with him about his art, A Mischief of Magpies, creating trouble for himself, working with @sispurrier.bsky.social, and more in a big art feature interview on SKTCHD.
Artist @matiasbergara.bsky.social is a one of one, and today on SKTCHD, we talked his path to comics, his evolution, collaborating with @sispurrier.bsky.social, and more, before we break down a cover and four pages from the first issue of A Mischief of Magpies #1 and the choices he made on the page.
Badr rules, and I had a wonderful time talking comics, San Diego Comic Con (which was his first!), the big news and experiences from the con, and yeah, the Eisner Awards with him. It was a ton of fun. You should check it out!
What’s it like to win the comic industry’s most prestigious award after devoting the last decade of your life covering it? The EISNER AWARD WINNING @davidharper.bsky.social can tell you all about it on this week’s The Short Box podcast 🏆 www.theshortboxpodcast.com/281000/episo...
I’m not sure if a show notification has ever filled me with more trepidation.
It was a MASSIVE month on Off Panel, SKTCHD's weekly interview podcast, so let's recap the past month. Up first was the return of Ed Brubaker to the show, as the writer visited to talk about his new graphic novel Five Gears in Reverse, the upcoming Unfinished Tales, the Criminal show, and more.

I'm working on a project that reminded me that for a few years this decade DC Comics were releasing comics on Tuesday while everyone else stayed on Wednesday. That was so weird.

This week on Off Panel, we have a rare episode recorded in person, as writers @joshuawilliamson.bsky.social and @kellysue.bsky.social joined me to share why they love comics, how creating them affects them as readers, what makes the medium special, and more.

I love a trade deadline in sports, but man, it'd be so weird if you were just doing your job one day when your boss comes up and says, "Pack your bags. We're trading you to Detroit. They expect you in your cubicle tomorrow."
I have read this comic and it rules.
Ahead of FOC Monday, we take a look at The Forever Home, the sci-fi mind-bender from multi-Eisner winning writer/artist Christian Ward (Invisible Kingdom) and visionary artist Sami Kivelä (Kosher Mafia) published by Oni Press. leagueofcomicgeeks.com/news/6330142...
During San Diego Comic Con, I had the chance to sit down with @joshuawilliamson.bsky.social and @kellysue.bsky.social to talk about why comics are the best. It was a true delight, even if the other segment of this episode was lost to the digital audio gods. Listen up!

I'm mad at @cjward.bsky.social for first scaring me with the Event Horizon comics he's writing and then convincing me to rewatch the movie because of said comics, scaring me a second time. The things I do to prep for podcasts...
Control is a fun, insane, and looks incredible, but my god, it is such a well written video game and is filled with some of the best world building in any medium ever. (I am replaying Control ahead of the release of Control: Resonant)
It's out, Aug 3rd!! Stop!! Hibari-kun! Vol 2! Available directly from us, or from good bookstores across America!
When the August back issue sale at my shop hits (I didn’t buy any of these but I love these covers).
I had the true delight of doing something connected to @fangraphs.com (my favorite website) by appearing on an episode of Effectively Wild for a superhero baseball draft with host @benlindbergh.bsky.social and @explodingarrow.bsky.social. It was very, very fun, although it's only on their Patreon!

I’d really love to spread the word about my comic book website Shelfdust. If you could please follow @shelfdust.bsky.social on Bluesky I’d really appreciate it - and I think you’ll enjoy it too!
For my last San Diego Comic Con piece (I swear!), my Friday ten things column is purely SDCC-centric, as I wrote about the ten things that stood out from the event. It was a fun one, but sheesh, it was a lot!
I wrote about ten things that stood out from this year's absolutely bananas San Diego Comic Con, from DC's dominance and hope maybe being a strategy for Marvel to collectibles going a step too far and activations not going far enough. It's a big one!
"Downton Abbey meets John le Carré in slow-burn cat-and-mouse thriller TRADECRAFT MANOR." A graphic novel by me and Leandro Fernández—coming March 23, 2027 from BOOM! Studios…I'm extremely proud of this one! www.comicsbeat.com/exclusive-bo...
This is so, so, so cool. @galegalligan.bsky.social highlighted The Comics Staple panel with beautiful drawings and highlights. I never knew I always wanted to see what I looked like when drawn by Gale, but it's wonderful!
another! sunset mode!! ran down my red-blue pencil (buttery, ephemeral) and pivoted to ink. i have never tried to write faster in my life (with bonus post-con feelings)
The first time I went to San Diego Comic Con, @comixace.bsky.social told me to keep a journal of my experience. I enjoyed that so much I ran it back for my second visit, and it was a delight revisiting a wonderful and surreal week in San Diego.
San Diego Comic Con 2026 was an unforgettable and unfathomably exhausting event, and in this feature, I share my journal from the experience, cataloguing my journey into the mysteries of the event and everything I learned from it.
