Only noticed Arday's book in a bookshop because of the disproportionate coverage of a workplace disciplinary issue. Despite being on holiday I knew more about his CV than anything else going on at home. I assume that the press will conclude that the result of their efforts was simply unfortunate.
Data protection law benefits individual privacy in a number of ways relating to how private companies use (or do not use) your personal data but any experts focussing on how regulators enforce (or do not enforce) the law are missing the point. (Public sector use of personal data is another matter)

People shrieking in horror at the suggestion that wearing earphones all the time might not be the best way to go through the day. Fine, get angry about some fluff article but reacting as if earbuds are your only defence against a harsh and intimidating environment makes you look silly.

Leveson 2 - an inquiry into criminal collusion between government, police and the press - was cancelled due to intense pressure from the police and the press, including the Guardian, all agreeing there was no need for an inquiry.
Engaging in this for likes is bad enough but adopting a pose of "oh if I really must" should be criminalised.
If we disagree and you are silent or kind then that's your choice. If, on the other hand, I am, like Rod Liddle, a vile piece of shit and you decide to tone police those pointing out I'm a vile piece of shit, then that says quite a lot about your values, none of which is positive.

That's a shame. I'd rather hoped the illness would have been long, painful and humiliating but I guess we can't have everything. Good riddance.
