A publisher putting a recent, award-winning book OP is not a decision made lightly. Their reasons for doing so may be good, bad, mixed—I don’t know anything about the specifics here. But you can’t make money on a book that’s not available for sale, and book publishers want to make money.

The article is framed terribly and confusing & badly sourced, but the withdrawn book+loss of job are notable.
