Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

This is why I call the Dodgers a "front office dynasty." They don't win everything on the field (tho lately they win plenty), but they win EVERY free agent battle by being open and creative -- Ohtani (SFG were also willing), Yamamoto, Sasaki, Glasnow, Freeman, Betts, Scherzer (as a rental), etc.

This is a cool link, but also, I first misread it as the WORD That Made the Bible. So ... what is the one Old T'ment word or phrase that lets you know exactly what book you're reading? (Like "wine-dark".) Probably "Israel," a portmanteau meaning "wrestles w/ God" But I'm going with "stiff-necked."

I heard about a big new movie about ancient Greek gods and how they drag even good-hearted humans through horrific trials and actual hell, and I'm looking forward to seeing it next week. (Better music than that other one too, I expect.)

For those wondering how it is that KY has a D Governor but will still have a R replacement for McConnell, I found this piece helpful. Ds are better off with things as they are: McC too vain to quit but too weak to vote. This failure will hardly be his legacy, but we can still enjoy watching it.

The National Bureau of Standards, an agency within the US Department of Commerce, made a bigger contribution to plumbing science and standardization than any other entity in the world. It’s referenced either directly or in tables or methodologies in nearly every national standard even today.

Really hope Dems (better: their academic and historian consultants & influencers) are watching this. I don't know enough to recognize over-reach, and as always reform depends on the benevolence of power, but this strikes me as the right attitude, at least to start.
