Flying drones in fire zones is not allowed. In a press conference on Aug. 3, Spokane Sheriff John Nowels said drones are simply not allowed and have already interfered with fire operations there. It’s not allowed in other fire zones either. #wawildfire

This declaration means FEMA now has additional authority to provide Direct Federal Assistance when our agency requests it. This declaration is focused on immediate emergency response. This does NOT provide direct checks to individuals or unrestricted funding for communities.
The federal government granted my request in full for an emergency declaration to help cities, counties, the state and tribes fight our record setting wildfires, with the exception of debris removal. We have support for emergency shelters, food and water, search and rescue. Read more here:
