5. Finally — donating a project to the CNCF is a one way door. You transfer your trademarks and you no longer own your project. There is a lot of agency invested in the maintainers but, ultimately, the LF owns the name and gets to define what that name means.

Wrt the NATS/CNCF thing. Some thoughts: 1. Not every project is right for the CNCF. You are giving up control and you get community, support and a place to collaborate. 2. There may be things that the CNCF could/should do to help projects that are small and driven by a single company.
