Encouraging to see Board of Health prioritize positive childhood experiences to improve lifelong health outcomes. In my deputation, I raised concerns about school environments and potential adverse child experiences linked to Ministry of Education legislation—especially for equity-denied groups.
Communities shouldn’t have to fight this hard to be heard. From school board takeovers to jets on the waterfront, Ford is sidelining local voices and putting Parkdale–High Park neighbourhoods at risk. Today, #FightFordProtest at Queen’s Park keeps the pressure on to protect public spaces.
Good indoor air quality is essential to whole health. I met with @cleanairto.bsky.social advocates and the Board of Health Chair to discuss practical steps to improve air in shared spaces—building on recent progress and a 2023 motion I advanced with colleagues at the TDSB. #CleanAirTO #PublicHealth

Just before the holiday break, I spoke with The Trillium about potential school closures. With concerns raised by education critics and OPSBA, it’s clear decisions must stay with local trustees. I shudder to think of Parkdale–High Park families paying the price for reckless government overreach.

The Keele Street Public School community has so much heart ❤️ Today they filled a van with food and care items for the Parkdale Community Food Bank—while also benefitting from the City’s expanded school nutrition program. Hearts (and bellies) are full this holiday season.
