HI, MY NAME IS-_, AND MY CHILD ATTENDS
SCHOOL IN THE TORONTO DISTRICT SCHOOLBOARD
I'M CALLING BECAUSE I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE BUDGET RELEASED BY THE FORD GOVERNMENT'S PERSONALLY-APPOINTED SUPERVISOR.
WHY IS THE BUDGET CUTTING 600 TEACHERS, 186 SUPPORT STAFF, AND 300 CENTRAL STAFF THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORT SCHOOLS EVERY DAY.
MY CHILDREN) WILL BE GOING TO SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER WITH LARGER CLASS SIZES AND FEWER SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ADULTS IN THE BUILDING.
OUR CHILDREN DESERVE TO LEARN AND GROW IN SAFE, SUPPORTED, WELL-RESOURCED
ENVIRONMENTS. WE NEED YOUR GOVERNMENT TO PROPERLY FUND EDUCATION!
THANK YOU

Metrolinx just wrote off $500M in signalling upgrades that are now useless, per Global News. Meanwhile Ontario schools cut EA hours for special ed students. $500M could’ve funded years of 1:1 support for kids who need it most. Wrong priorities. #ONpoli #onted globalnews.ca/news/1191584...

As part of its annual report, Metrolinx said it would write off $504 million spent on signalling work for the Union Rail Corridor section of its track, which began in 2013.

Nelson offers full math textbooks and workbooks. Private schools have them for their students. But Calandra tells us public schools will get the online supplementary materials instead (because they are cheaper). No physical books for your child to hold in their hands. #OntEd

On Sat, June 27 join families, workers, and concerned Ontarians for a #FightFord day of action, with rallies at PC MPP offices and other locations across the province. Say NO to Doug Ford's cuts and YES to real investment in #OntEd, health care, and our critical public services.

Failed insurance salesman turned Education Minister pulls a fast one: "More than a third of the money for provincial elementary school teachers’ newly announced spending accounts will be clawed from existing funds rather than representing a new investment" www.thestar.com/politics/pro... #onted

Ontario promised $750/year for teachers to buy supplies. It turns out it's not all new money

Of the cash to cover classroom supplies for teachers under the Learning Resources Fund, $300 will come from current funding, school board guide says.

This it TODAY, JUNE 9th! Please show up if you’re able. Please call Ford, underfunding of K-12 education has reached $6.4 Billion on his watch. Every cut to education is directly on him, these are the choices he makes. Our kids suffer for it. #onted #onpoli

Can we please stop saying “in a bubble,” which is some real bullshit right wing framing, and be more accurate about this? SAFE. People want to spend their social media time somewhere SAFE. Somewhere they will not get rape and death threats, where they will not be doxxed and threatened.

i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

NEW: Next fall, French and music instruction at Annette Street PS may look a little different. To save money, the board is forcing some schools to seal off classrooms. For this school in The Junction, four rooms are on the chopping block, per parents. #onted www.torontotoday.ca/local/educat...

Shrinking pains? TDSB to shutter some classrooms next year to save money

The TDSB is projecting about 5,000 fewer students will enrol next year. As in previous years, it will lock up and close off some classrooms in select schools to reduce costs

NEW: A legal challenge supported by the Ford government that could pave the way for future redevelopment of school lands has struck a nerve with some Toronto parents. At several schools, parents held coordinated protests on Thursday morning. #onted www.torontotoday.ca/local/educat...
