Talked about this earlier with friends cause we were watching a movie earlier and we kinda notice a lot people can’t handle morally grey topics or character drama. Granted there are a lot of stories that get it wrong.

No shade at this because they’re not entirely wrong. It’s just fascinating seeing this kind of take while my feed is filled with people going into war about the morally of superhero comics because a character did something morally wrong and sparks a debate if they can be redeemed or not

Once again, white male characters get to have their humanity and complexity explored with fullness and grace. They get epic love stories. They become the faces of vision boards. They blur the lines of masculinity and femininity and are celebrated for it. They get to explore their sexuality without their entire existence being reduced to it. In books. In plays. On television. In film. But tuhh!! Let a Black male main character do half of that, and suddenly it's World War III.
