The prologue of The Blood of Dawnwalker is a masterclass of writing and world building. Calling it "inspired by Witcher 3" isn't inaccurate, but is a massive disservice. I'm truly blown away so far.

Major progress made on the personalized home experience. Avg load time <1 second on decent broadband. Also, the Playstyle-based recommendations module now supports near real-time updates based on user feedback.
Getting closer to the Gamefeels beta launch. Loving how these "feel collection" cards have come together.
Late stage capitalism in a single screenshot: you just want dark mode so ESPN stops burning your retinas and its Settings page is like, nah, how about some sports betting though?
Maybe Tottenham should've taken the relegation last year. 😅 Losing 3-0 to Brentford after 55 mins is mental.
My feed is 90% Instagram logotype redesign takes, which makes me want to defenestrate myself. It looks fine, albeit more boring, and doesn't matter when Meta is training its LLM models without consent and continues to destroy society. Find something meaningful to care about instead.
Hi! I'm building something new with a small team. If you're a gamer and struggle to figure out what to pick up next, may I suggest Gamefeels? We're exploring emotion-based game discovery that beats the storefront algos. Launching soon, and you can sign up to be notified now: www.gamefeels.app

Spent part of the weekend trying to revive skeuomorphic design.
LLMs will never be truly creative because they lack what we have: emotion, empathy, and lived experience. Emotion knocks you off the well-worn path, wired to your own memories and griefs. Your creative engine is your biography. More on the newsletter: www.systemsandsignals.co/p/why-ai-can...
Why AI Can Never Be Truly Creative
#055: Human emotion drives creative divergence and empathy is what makes it work. A machine can imitate both but possesses neither.

The result of my latest ADHD fixation: An essay on what a 1968 mouse utopia can teach about AI, the job market, and purpose. Yeah, I dunno man. I just type what the brain tells me. www.systemsandsignals.co/p/a-very-com...
A Very Comfortable Extinction
#051: What a 1968 experiment tells us about abundance, the criticality of purpose, and the transition to an AI-enabled future.

Steam: Hey, just saw you bought head tracking software for flight sims. You must be a foot freak, right?
My Lyft driver is vibe coding an app while driving. Wish me luck.

One of my team members is of Iranian descent. The American president threatening civilizational genocide is not a topic in the leadership handbook. This is beyond insanity.
Wrote down some thoughts on how design skill sets need to evolve to meet the moment, including designing for predictive and generative experiences instead of static and deterministic ones. www.systemsandsignals.co/p/the-new-de...

The world has ruined April Fools' Day for me. I already can't tell what's real on the daily, why make it worse.
Ah, my favorite time of year: is it the existential dread I'm feeling or just allergies.
Most designers are running career strategies built for stable roles and clear ladders, and that market is gone. New issue on building a Career OS, a living framework for intentional moves instead of reactive ones. systemsandsignals.co/p/why-designers-need-a-career-os-now

55% of CEOs who fired designers "because of AI" already regret it. Most never actually replaced anyone with AI. The anticipatory layoff is doing damage that won't show up until they need to ship something good.
Companies Are Laying Off Workers Because of AI’s Potential—Not Its Performance
AI has been cited as a cause of layoffs, but is it actually displacing jobs? And if not, what’s going on? Based on a survey of 1,006 global executives in December 2025, AI is behind at least some layoffs,...

Smashing Magazine's February piece on agentic UX changed how I think about this. We're no longer just designing screens, we're designing trust protocols, escalation patterns, and how much autonomy a system gets before it checks in.
Designing For Agentic AI: Practical UX Patterns For Control, Consent, And Accountability — Smashing Magazine
Autonomy is an output of a technical system. Trustworthiness is an output of a design process. Here are concrete design patterns, operational frameworks, and organizational practices for building agentic...

IBM and SAP independently shipped MCP servers for their design systems this quarter, and the fact that they arrived at the same conclusion through completely different architectures says more than either one alone. Wrote about what it means for your system. www.systemsandsignals.co/p/design-sys...

You're laughing? Bovino had to go to his second favorite bar, a hollow tree stump where the bartender is a mouse serving raspberry cordial inside cups made out of acorns, and you're laughing
This rules. Kick Bovino out of every fucking bar in the country.
