These are important outcomes but colleges also help people understand and participate in society and their governments as *citizens*.
Would a last op ed ignored and left properly unread still be a last op ed? I guess we missed this chance to find out. Maybe next time.

Well worth reading this story on family concerns and the conditions for military personnel on the USS Lincoln, deployed since last November with only two stops in ports. A total lack of logistical planning or preparation for war by whim.

Charles D. "Chuck" Rowland reached staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during WWII. He was a founding member of the Mattachine Society in 1950 in Los Angeles. Rowland was born in South Dakota in 1917 and died in Minnesota in 1990. A short interview with him: www.youtube.com/watch?app=de....
