It's being reported that Julio Le Parc has died. I met Le Parc in Paris (for this @friezeofficial.bsky.social feature www.frieze.com/article/peri...) nearly thirteen years ago and liked him a lot. There was something impish and irrepressible about him even then, at 84 years old.

Some very cool stuff in the brand new Wire, including a great window onto the weirdo music scene over on Vancouver Island in Emily Pothast’s EarthBall feature, and I reviewed this and that including an amazing effectively new Margareth Kammerer album

So sad to her about this loss of the very great, and very generous, Steve Barrow. When The Congos played in London last year, he was the only person they gave a shout out to from the stage. Imagine just how great a reissue label must be to be that guy who gets a namecheck from the band.

i made a new zine about the (many) similarities between david foster wallace's postmodern classic infinite jest and queer hockey series heated rivalry – my two primary obsessions of the past few months. i made stickers too! available here if you are the same kind of insane as me: fwyl.bigcartel.com

my hand holding up a zine against a red wall. the cover reads 'there are actually quite a lot of similarities between infinite jest and heated rivalry when you look into it, an investigation by claire biddles'. there's a picture of shane hollander reading infinite jest in bed on the cover.my hand holding up a blue circular sticker reading 'infinite jest' in the heated rivalry font, against a red wall.
