SMART celebrates early voting tallies for Wayne County transit millage
The millage renews public transit for communities in the SMART system and adds a new tax for those in 17 others that do not have the bus service.

It's official - the Wayne County Transit Millage has passed! An overwhelming majority of voters, 67% in total, approved the millage. For the first time in over 30 years, each community in the tri-county area will be connected. Thank you for making better transit possible.

Wayne County voters to decide fate of countywide transit in primary millage
Communities are no longer allowed to opt-out of SMART service, so the entire county will vote on the Wayne County Public Transportation Millage on their primary ballots.

In the early morning hours of Friday, July 3rd, the Michigan Legislature passed the FY 2026-27 Budget. MDOT's total budget grew by $226M. Unsurprisingly, most of this goes to roads, but transit still got some small progress.
