Biked 1 mile to coffee. Then biked another mile to the pharmacy. Then biked 1 mile home. 95% on protected (separated) bike infra. More Americans deserve the freedom of a life like this (if they want it).

Squishiness on trans rights is a dealbreaker for me because (a) it’s a straightforward issue of personal freedom and bodily autonomy much like abortion, and (b) the right is obviously coming after us cis gays next.

trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

There's some truth here: Transit projects cost too much and the urban transportation market is getting more competitive. Withholding transit grant money, as the Trump admin is doing, addresses neither of those things, of course. But what would help? t.co/cZmiMFc6yf

For as long as I’ve been a reporter in this city the complaint has been that we build too many giant luxury condos in a few places and not enough medium density housing across neighbourhoods. But this week reaffirmed why that approach is so baked into the DNA and political culture of Vancouver.

Incredibly frustrating to see the way big orgs try to vacillate between 'AI is a tool, the human is responsible when it does harm' and 'no, the AI is responsible' based almost entirely on what it would cost them to own it. Humans are only a moral crumple zone (a la Elish) when they're not C suite.

Seeding the “maybe our model is exhibiting self-awareness?” narrative to obliterate the “OpenAI is a negligent and potentially criminal actor” narrative is a reputation management move exclusive to this industry. Not a stunt, but a desperate need to control the narrative.

I want to make a case to my Ann Arbor neighbors to reelect Christopher Taylor, even though his opponent's politics are closer to mine. We’ve progressed so much since 2016 under Taylor's leadership. We built much more housing and are bringing more people into this sweet community.

There are many reasons to vote for Abdul. The most practical one is that if you want to win Michigan in Nov, we need him on the ballot. Benson doesn't bring one new vote to Stevens & versa vice. Abdul speaks to the irregular, anti-system voters who decide close races here. He will bring them out.

It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.
