Dad's chatting with me over whatsapp whilst he and mum are playing cards I know it's a small thing but we don't talk that much. It's nice.
Give a man mashed potato and he will eat for a day, teach a man to mash potato and he will love you - now that he can dance - watch me now.
A very fun listen! Also if you do give this and listen and enjoy then check out his book Pagans
This week: a play I wrote for Radio 4 where a load of detectives slowly discover they're in the wrong genre went out this week. It had some excellent people from Green Wing and Piglets in it and can be listened to thusly: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...
Story time! Carrying in with reading Iceland folk legends in bed
Sticking with the spooky autumn vibes by recolouring the field of sunflowers I visited in the summer. It's still not xmas 😝
⚠️ Spotify plans to let users remix artists' songs using AI next year, but it'll cost up to $5 extra per month A way to encourage people to "modify" real work, avoid paying artists, and create more slop.

* Spooky season is NOT over * Fuck off with X-mas, barring food I never have nor will accept it creeping in pre-Birthday (16th Nov). This is the sacred line. * The post hol diet is going well. Getting body back in control in a healthy and maintainable way.
This is your gentle reminder that, as we are in the dark months now, spooky season officially continues until Twelfth Night

First they erased a ‘Protect the Dolls’ t-shirt from Strictly Come Dancing. Now they’ve erased Pride badges from University Challenge. The BBC are saying that our visibility as LGBTQ people is a political issue. Meanwhile they’ve commissioned a 2-part series on JK Rowling. Impartial? My arse!
University Challenge contestants say BBC edited out their Pride pins
Two University of Leicester students have alleged the BBC digitally removed their Pride pins from an episode of University Challenge.

Spent all day recovering and yet feel worse now than I was before. Still as days go, being all snug and reading on a stormy day certainly isn't the worst
People can't wear pride pins, puppets must wear poppies. Ridiculous organisation
Two University of Leicester students speak out over ‘absurd’ and ‘Orwellian’ decision by the BBC and ITV Studios to edit out pride pins worn on University Challenge
Porridge laden with apple and raspberries Wax melt with the scent of honey Hot water bottle Book on Icelandic folklore Spiced tea and freshly ground coffee Sound of the rain hitting the window Steaming bowl of soup Making the most of this self care day whilst feeling rough
Sorry but the lyrics will always be Hot Dog, Jumping Frog, Have A Cookie.
Nah fuck that. I'm stubborn enough to never return if they do this in my store
Tesco is about to see a dramatic uptick of screens in supermarkets in need of repairs.
Dropping next door a text to ask if he can feed our cat whilst we're away and you'd think I'm publishing my first novel with the effort I'm putting into writing it It's not like we haven't looked after each other's pets for the last 4 years either 🤣
Needed to make a huge playlist for a 5hr roadtrip and have found it's easier (or at least a different challenge) to break it up into 5 songs for each genre/theme 100 tracks 6:36 with songs from 1929-2023 Just need to make one for the trip back now
I've made half-ass attempts to de-google before with no success beyond refusing to replace my phone. I need to take another stab at this. Finding alternative phone, browser, email, google sheets alternative. Potentially getting bluetooth (but not smart) mini home speakers
UPDATE 🚨: Finland orders Google to halt data centre work after they purposefully disregard requirements for an environment review Sadly 530 hectares of trees have already been destroyed - so much for "Don't be evil"
Overslept, told myself it was ok cos there's works drinks tonight and I usually finish earlier that the rest of the team so it'd work out Except I got the day wrong, work drinks were yesterday Slapped with £77 of import fees for some stuff I ordered online How's your day going?
This morning's album is Bacchanal 'n' Philadelphia - Mischief Brew
Less AI, more A1. Used to love that band - first boy crush too
3rd evening out in a row. Manchester Alternative Bazaar followed by Susan Calman today
Similar vibe with work collections. Always putting in for big birthdays/weddings/leavers/fundraisers but not benefited as when my turn came round I was at places that didn't do this kinda thing or multiple folks leaving due to redundancies
It's seen as reasonable to spend lots of money as wedding guests over and over again because they'll get you back when it's your turn, but for a lot of us it may never be "our turn" and asking people to contribute instead to our gingerbread cottage oven fund is "weird" and "scaring the children" 🙄
