Part time writer, avid TTRPG player, somehow got myself into Warhammer thinking it would be a good idea.

(*me trying to force someone to put on the One Ring*) Oh my God, it's just a TOOL. It only goes bad for people who don't know what they're doing! Oh, you think Sauron destroying the land is bad? Digging up hobbit holes is way worse for the environment. It's actually classist you won't put it on.

The 2008 Depression taught me that as soon as people start asking "Are we in a recession?" the answer is that we've actually been in a recession for some time, it's just that no one wants to acknowledge it. The mass layoffs the last 2 years have already resulted in more job losses than 2008.

You don’t need AI, you need a critique group that meets every month or so, trades stories, and gives feedback. Or even a mentor. You know: a HUMAN you talk to, who knows the right advice to give because they are also a writer and have been where you are. *Stop talking to a bot*.

"I avoid politics." No bestie, you avoid uncomfortable conversations about politics. From the moment you were born til the day you die, you've been thoroughly and utterly enmeshed in the policies, systems, and governance of a society that shapes your experience. You just try not to think about it.

I think with the level of venom with which AI proponents have treated artists, writers, musicians, whole creative industries, they deserve at the very least to have that venom met in kind, and I hope it stings. I'm only sorry it hasn't happened sooner. Party's over, enjoy the hangover.

okay so AI is absolutely cratering imminently and I need all of you to PROMISE me you won't take the high road, and will laugh and rub it in their faces as much as possible. I need you to laugh and go 'WE TOLD YOU SO, BITCH" at every opportunity, PLEASE be extremely mean and ruthless

Amidst all the crazy shit going on in the world for some reason this is the one that is annoying me today: It's not gonna be a Firefly reboot or restart. Almost all of those actors have current acting commitments that take up most of their working time.

The success of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms just proves that, while I would love for GRRM to finish Winds of Winter, what I'm really looking forward to is more Dunk and Egg novellas.

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind. It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty. Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face. Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.

If you have a special something that others cannot duplicate or doesn't feel focus-grouped to death, readers will eagerly await your next book You are writing to market: YOUR market. The good thing is that I write these things because I like them and my readers also like them, so it isn't a drain 8/

So here comes the encouragement: * you are not alone * this, too, shall pass * keep writing because someone needs your story * keep writing because you love the craft * you have survived 100% of the times that felt impossible * art is rebellion * art feeds your soul * winter is for lying fallow 8/

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.
