“The media simply can’t discuss a work of literature without pointing to some writer-hero. And yet there is no work of literature that is not the fruit of tradition, of many skills, of a sort of collective intelligence.” — Elena Ferrante

My favourite thing about Haaland is that he spent 1.3 million Norwegian kroner of his football money on a rare 1594 edition of Viking chronicles - a record book sale for Norway - and then donated it to his regional library. www.reuters.com/lifestyle/ha...

We both like to set books free in the wild after done reading them, but same principle applies--just for strangers
The nice things about books: once you own them, you own them, forever. No one will be eye tracking your reading habits. No one will make money of you reading the book as many times as you'd like. And the very same book can be read by generations to come. It can last centuries, literally. It's great.
Same but now its 4pm (and we're not smart or patient enough for poetry).
every sunday I'm like it's cool I've got all day I can get all these things done and then it's 3 pm and I've been lying on the couch reading poetry and not doing any of the goddamn things and I no longer have all day and why am I like this. why.

I really loved this book, strongly recommend!!
In some NEWS, we have a brand-new book for you all to get hyped for 📖💥 The Girl Who Was Tuesday by Beatriz Seelaender is a chaotic meditation on autonomy, and individuality set against a veggie-based murder mystery. It's quirky, original, and a little bit batshit.
And the reviews for The Girl Who Was Tuesday are in 📖🥕
"Every element in this story is WHACKY and I loved it. Unreliable narrator, mental health issues, piecing together fragmented moments … it has it all." The Girl Who Was Tuesday is out TODAY. Beatriz Seelaender's batshit wee whodunnit about a girl who is Tuesday. Just Tuesday. l1nk.dev/9mzcltd
I went from reading a few books a year to around one a week. I wanted to write down how I got there, how it involved rethinking my relationship to attention, and why I believe reading books can heal your brain. I hope this gives you something useful! johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/how-i-lear...

The secret everyone tries to sell you via systems and coaching and prompts is no secret at all. You sit down and do the work. Write, edit, and rewrite per omnia secula seculorum. Music is on. Time to think, do the work, cast the spells, talk to the spirits…
Is anyone out there chummy with Zadie Smith? We'd love her to blurb our next release, The Girl Who Was Tuesday. Her NW contributes rather considerably to moving the plot forward, after all. Pretty sure she'd be into it, if we can just get her ear. #connex #please

over in the GHOULISH discord we started talking about how bands don't seem to name themselves after horror movies anymore, which raised the question: if you were starting a band, which horror movie title are you recycling? we already called dibs on Jennifer's Bodies.
Being part of the fiction jury for the Pulitzer Prize means you read A LOT of books. Inevitably, there’s more excellent work than you can count. Since the prize has been announced, I’m recommending five other books that I read and loved during the process. Read ‘em all!
We couldn't agree more 👇 The terrifying mouth of the cosmic universe is very balmy this time of year.

“Artists are nourished by each other more than by fame or by the public, I’ve always thought. To give one’s work to the world is an experience of peculiar emptiness. The work goes away from the artist into a void, like a message stuck into a bottle and flung into the sea.” — Joyce Johnson
