I expect people with power to be terrible and the more power they get, the more terrible they will become. Most people aren't like them. Most people do quiet good things on a regular basis that go unnoticed. Neither hope nor hopelessness enter the way I see things. Doing good for its own sake does.

They went nuts if you suggested abolishing ICE during Biden’s term, even though ICE was engaged in terror, and even though Trump inheriting Biden’s ICE posed a huge future threat. They were still against abolishing ICE and would attack people who suggested it.
