Ashlinn Peters, M.S. (They/Them)
@ashlinnpeters.bsky.social
Clinical psych PhD student @ U of Montana LEDE Lab | Texas Tech HDFS M.S. & Psych B.A. | eating disorders, adolescence, sociocultural influences, psychometrics | Weight Inclusivity | Queer, First-Gen, and proud | Views are my own
I had the privilege of presenting 2 posters this year. The first was a @abct-edeb-sig.bsky.social SIG poster exploring people’s experiences using coaching services for eating disorder recovery. This was my first conference presentation on my Masters thesis project!
The second poster was a study exploring disordered eating anonymous group attendance prior to eating disorder treatment and how attending these groups prior to treatment may relate to clinical presentations at intake to eating disorder treatment.
I had a lovely time at #ABCT2025 presenting my posters, eating amazing food, and frolicking around New Orleans with some of my favorite people! @ashlinnpeters.bsky.social @drmartinwagar.bsky.social @sambedard.bsky.social @julianic.bsky.social @abctnow.bsky.social
Had so much fun at #ABCT25 with my amazing colleagues and some folks from our lab 🫶🏻 @drmartinwagar.bsky.social @taylorepenwell.bsky.social
If you’re at #ABCT2025 come see our clinical round table on Dismantling Anti Fat Bias in Eating Disorder Treatment in Strand 13! @connorelbe.bsky.social @drtiffanyabrown.bsky.social @allyduvall.bsky.social
Excited for my first #ABCT2025 in NOLA. Come see my poster related to diet culture and disordered eating at the Sig expo and welcome cocktail party!
In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.
🦊 REDS lab will be accepting a grad student for Fall 2026. Folks interested in eating disorders and/or suicide are encouraged to apply! See here for more details: www.redslab.org/join-the-lab

As a queer Tech alumni, I have NO words. Not only did our Hispanic serving status get removed, but now this. This is censorship and the start of removing academic freedom.
We survived orientation 🤩 @umontana.bsky.social’s 2025 clinical psychology PhD cohort is ready for their first year
As a first-gen student and US citizen on one side, queer, & growing up in a low income family with a teen mom who dropped out of high school, there are no words to express this. Clawing up the ladder (while still holding so much privilege) is so hard, but imposter syndrome has nothing on me.
🌟The REPEAT Lab at VCU (PI: Dr. Annie Haynos) in Richmond, VA is hiring a clinical research coordinator! 🌟 We use various methods (fMRI, EMA, computational modeling) to study neurobiological mechanisms and treatment for eating disorders & other disorders of rigidity. Post will be open for 1 week! 🧠📊
After a 1400+ mile drive consisting of a 7 hour uhaul breakdown and a flat truck tire, I have made it to Missoula! Boy this city does not disappoint in beauty and community. So happy to be a Griz :)

Mastered it 🖤❤️ Beyond excited and full of emotions to close this chapter at Texas Tech!
A study in @jama.com last week documented that in just over a month 139 training grants were terminated by the NIH
RFK Jr. just said he wants NIH to support “younger scientists instead of older folks" but is cutting funding that supports entire areas of research and career support for generations of scientists.
Excited to share this! Thank you so much to Olivia, Dr. Walker, and Dr. Harrop for your support on this one! link.springer.com/epdf/10.1007...

As 100 days in office comes up, let’s focus on the next few months: Trump is trying to stop spending at NIH to justify cutting the NIH budget. Every US scientist should be in contact with their Congressional reps about this. Get grants and money out the door soon or the money goes away.
Whole lotta "He Is Risen" from people who voted for a tyrant who ABSOLUTELY would have sent Jesus to a prison in El Salvador without due process. SEND TWEET.
