Seeing all these "Dem so-and-so said this thing, but now they're saying the opposite, what a hypocrite." posts while also seeing the president propose renaming New Mexico to "New America" and showing off genAI designs for space force uniforms based on Starship Troopers is such a fever dream.

When did "grown-up" things become so patronizing? I'm getting emails from the credit bureaus saying stuff like: "Wow, congratulations on making your payments ON-TIME, you're so on top of this, way to go champ!"

An email I received from Experian with big goofy ah streamers and stuff saying: "Payment streak" 7 MONTHS.

The body of the email says: "Celebrate your streak!"
"We looked back on 7 months - and you've made all your payments on time. Great job! Sign in to track your progress."

Past me: "I just cannot figure out how to draw hands, wtf are these noodley things?" Present me (to past me): "We learned the middle finger is actually the longest, the index and ring fingers are about the same length, there are 3 segments, not 2 and the thumb attaches to the wrist, not the palm."

"I don't get why people are mad about AI, it's just a t-" Here's Sam Altman proposing a future where "intelligence is a utility like electricity or water, and people buy it from us on a meter". He is proposing a future where thinking is something you buy, not something you do.

At dinner a friend of mine was chatting about the logistics of their parents bringing 5 cats in a plane. With utmost conviction, my brain just kept spitting out: "One day, you'll be able to dehydrate the cats, and hold them like a basketball in your lap, then reconstitute them after!"

Y'all. Please remember the artists that drew these things when sending around memes. I feel for these artists who NEVER get credited for these (and some, nowadays, are even being accused of being AI!) Here's a few common ones I see (feel free to add others, I want this to be a living thread): 🧵

Good morning. Someone please put Hank Hill in a fighting game so his intro line can be: "I don't usually condone violence; but for you specifically... I'm pro-pain."

Hank Hill from King of the Hill looking mad and pointing.

The Sea of Thieves demo got me. AI: "So hop on board, raise your anchor and start figuring out the ropes" "Ok, how do I get on the ship?" <AI spends rest of demo spoon feeding instructions to the player so they don't need to 'figure out' anything> 1 step away from: "please play the game for me"

Here's how Gaming Copilot will work on Xbox when it arrives later this year. According to Microsoft, 19 percent of early usage was just to chat with the AI as a companion. The guides are seemingly lifted without credit from the internet. It's unclear if that will change before console launch.

Had a dream that there was global panic about the world running out of oxygen, Nintendo was the only video game company to make a statement about it, and the internet collectively spent its final hours on Earth debating whether Nintendo was being genuine or not

A fabricated statement from Nintendo of America's Twitter account addressing a fictitious scenario in which the Earth's oxygen supply is presumed to be depleting at a rapid pace, leaving humanity with mere days to live.

"This is Miyamoto. On behalf of everyone who is employed at Nintendo Co. LTD and its subsidiaries, we deeply mourn the countless human lives which will be lost due to the depletion of the global oxygen supply. To anyone who has ever played one of our games, we are eternally grateful to have created long-lasting fun and memories for you. To ease the suffering of families and children across the world, the Mario Kart World game for the Nintendo Switch 2 system will be available as a free download on Nintendo eShop for the foreseeable future. We hope this small gesture of kindness will ease the pain as humanity prepares for a worst-case scenario."

The statement is distastefully plastered with logos for Nintendo and Nintendo Switch 2, as well as with a render of Mario from Mario Kart World.A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

John Default Profile Picture: "No one read this statement and thought it was distasteful? Why did Miyamoto think this would help anyone?"

NintenDeen: "Simple: Nintendo is so depraved that they'd exploit a global crisis to boost the player count of the failed Mario Kart World and force consumers back into the Switch 2 ecosystem to boost sales and player numbers."A fabricated Twitter thread responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

PlayStation Nation: "What the fuck are you doing falsely advertising sales during these trying times? I went to the website and Mario Kart World is still selling for $80 USD."

Kremling Kevin: "If you actually read the statement, it clearly says the discount is available on Nintendo eShop. Meaning the application on the Switch 2 itself, not the web browser version."

PlayStation Nation: "Point still stands."A fabricated Tweet responding to the fabricated Nintendo statement.

Isaboner: "Nothing for Switch 1 owners?"
