Running into Spirk yaoi on display in a museum was NOT on my bingo list. Mad respect to who curated this lol (Found at the State Library Victoria)

Fanzines took off in the 1960s and '70s inspired by TV programs like Star Trek and Doctor Who. Widely broadcast, these serials presented rich universes that were expanded on in fanzines.
This issue of Matter/Antimatter features a love story between
Captain Kirk and Spock. It is an example of 'slashfic' - a genre of fan fiction that imagines romances between characters of the same gender.
Romantic fan fiction showcases fantasies of the rebel heart, unconstrained by reality.

Seated for Hadestown at the movie theater, I can’t believe I managed to catch that it was playing when I was at The Odyssey yesterday, I still haven’t ever seen a production after being obsessed with the soundtrack since COVID

Going to see The Odyssey. I don’t think I’ve ever read a complete translation of it but I do remember the Wishbone adaptation so I’m curious to see how it holds up to my memory of that

I’ve gotten totally sidetracked from Elden Ring by Katamari Damacy Reroll. I’m working through the achievement where you complete your collection by rolling up everything at least once and it’s been SO stupidly fun, I can’t believe how well this game holds up for me

Bury my Heart (Galehaut Laid to Rest) "And Lancelot himself lay his companion to rest inside the tomb. After he had laid Galehaut down, he kissed him three times on the mouth in such agony that his heart nearly leapt out of his chest." Lancelot Part IV (Lancelot-Grail /Vulgate Cycle) #Arthuriana

I regularly review books online, and let me tell you, negative reviews are actively discouraged. If you didn't like it? Don't say anything. Less than 4 stars? Keep it to yourself. It's becoming a terrible ecosystem where we can't discuss anything critically or with any nuance.

Hmmm. I read the Emily Wilson review of Nolan's The Odyssey and not sure what the hubbub is about. Are negative reviews not allowed anymore? Some nuance of her points seems flattened in the criticisms of the review, too.

Rasheed is literally risking his life for this game. Israelis could decide to capture, torture, or murder him at any point for daring to share the truth of the Nakba or Palestinian culture. He truly believes in games and their power to tell these stories. Please help his courage not be in vain.

I’m NOT excited and I’m NOT thrilled. I’m honestly scared to share this, but I’m not a coward. I have to show you what you helped us create. None of this would have been possible without your help, and we can’t finish it without your support www.launchgood.com/1948 youtu.be/D4qh1FAPEUo

“Do Dead Malls Go To Heaven?” Experimented a bit with a new way of detailing the tiles. Kinda like it? This particular piece took a hell of a lot of work. I’d love if you shared the vibes it’s giving off, for research purposes. (WIP process in comments)

Too many writers (books, television, film) think being earnest is neither cool nor funny. Especially those handling older properties. They want to be cynical to look mature, subversive to look funny, and sarcastic to look smart. And in the end, all they make is the same self-aware, hollow junk.

I look forward to hearing about the ways they will advocate specifically and openly for authors writing kink and losing their incomes due to censorship laws since they were willing to joke about "ick"
