"All of us have to learn how to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills; we need guides to show us how. Without them, our lives get made up for us by other people." Thinking about these words from Le Guin today in honor of those who imagined new ways for us. ♥️

Home, imagined, comes to be. It is real, realer than any other place, but you can’t get to it unless your people show you how to imagine it—whoever your people are. They may not be your relatives. They may never have spoken your language. They may have been dead for a thousand years. They may be nothing but words printed on paper, ghosts of voices, shadows of minds.

But they can guide you home. They are your human community.

All of us have to learn how to invent our lives, make them up, imagine them. We need to be taught these skills; we need guides to show us how. Without them, our lives get made up for us by other people.

Human beings have always joined in groups to imagine how best to live and help one another carry out the plan. The essential function of human community is to arrive at some agreement on what we need, what life ought to be, what we want our children to learn, and then to collaborate in learning and teaching so that we and they can go on the way we think is the right way [....]

In our time of huge populations exposed continuously to reproduced voices, images, and words used for commercial and political profit, there are too many people who want to and can invent us, own us, shape and control us through seductive and powerful media. It’s a lot to ask of a child to find a way through all that alone. Nobody can do anything very much, really, alone.

What a child needs, what we all need, is to find some other people who have imagined life along lines that make sense to us and allow some freedom, and listen to them. Not hear passively, but listen.

I gotta say, WoW going from killing a troll in one patch for dabbling in forbidden magic to a patch featuring elves who dabble in forbidden magic and are going to be Just Fine™️ is a really, really unfortunate series of events for Midnight

"It's given a lot of people permission to be themselves, to not dream it, be it, which is the motto of the movie, really. I would like to be remembered for that." Farewell to Tim Curry (1946-2026) #RIP

Trying to write up a thing to sort out my thoughts on Zul'jarra. idk, just because it's a stereotype to portray women as overly emotional doesn't necessarily mean that having a female character be stoic at a key moment makes for a good story, imo that's throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

The author's brazen fetish, presented with such hedonistic flair and and open pride it makes you feel a little embarassed for needing to hide your own passions behind self-effacing jokes in order to preserve a sense of safe, pseudo-ironic detachment

Alright, alright, I'm back in WoW, I'm wrapping up my little tasks for the week, I'm noodling on my house. Everything got way less overwhelming when I finally accepted that I just needed to ignore Prey until I'm caught up on questing, rep, and meta achievements.

READY FOR THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AT BLIZZCON 2026-- Uh, I mean 2028. 🤔✨️ Laughs aside though... It's interesting to consider a patch with a lighter tone with a 'theme' and a raid with seemingly low stakes - I suppose the closest we've had to this the Argent Tournament, which was still very serious!

Until The Last Titan comes out in a few years time, I'm going to keep (half-jokingly) speaking this into existence: Wrathion and Anduin's wedding patch, "Binding of Heart" ✨ Including: Tie-in raid, 'fancy dress' tier sets, playing into the two gold rings in the background of the TLT logo, etc!

The image shows a fake World of Warcraft logo - it uses the base 'The Last Titan' logo (gold, with the two rings of a titan device resembling a astrolabe), but the bottom text reads: "The Binding of Heart."

Went to go see Castle in the Sky today and there was a small but very enthusiastic crowd in the theater, it was amazing. All of the funny bits landed and everyone was so quiet for the serious moments during the third act, like when the choir music kicks in, it was like being in church.

I had leftover ingredients so I’m making slow cooker tacos again this week with different toppings. Also getting to enjoy my first Oktoberfest of the season 🥰
