“The contradiction enters the classroom every day. Institutions celebrate thought in mission statements, public speeches, and recruitment materials while placing many of the people responsible for sustaining that work inside unstable conditions.”

My secret book is in the genre of Oppositional Defiant Gifts and is in the footnotes to Chapter 3.
In every academic book there is a secret second book hiding in the footnotes. Sometimes it is the first draft that had migrated there to escape the revisions. Sometimes it is the author's tortured secret rebuttal of their own claims, and sometimes it is the incipient form of the their next book.
Come hang out! There is a virtual option!

Much of what you need to know about the politics of that Yale report can be encompassed in the fact that Heterodox Academy has walked right up to the line of claiming outright credit for its contents. (You should also read this thread).
The Yale report on trust in higher education has some good recommendations for reforms in many areas that I hope Yale and other schools implement. But its diagnosis is oddly silent about what I suspect is the most important force driving the decline in trust in higher education: political attack.
You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
the world is scary right now. solidarity is how we get through. let’s all throw some funds to one of the weelaunee forest defenders so that she + her kid can stay housed. 🩵💙
My support crew just sent out this email to help me pay rent for last month. The fight to stay housed continues.
Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? -The question A’ja Wilson’s boyfriend contemplated right before he decided that, yes, thru surplus accumulation he would blot out the [MNBA] record of iniquity + give renewed hope to all those who believe [survivors], quoted in Romans 6:1 #WNBA
THERE ARE NO ETHICAL 80 PT GAMES UNDER CAPITALISM
And you, O generation, behold the word of The Point God! -The epigraph of this now-complete thread on raced/gendered labor + anti-union BS that fronts as queer feminism, and which is relevant to the WNBPA and #WNBA updates. Jeremiah 2:31. p.s. pod linked @ the end but obvs the relevance is broader
Thus says The Point God concerning the shills for management who lead my people astray, who cry “Peace!” when they are raking in the capital but declare war against those who have no total revenue share. -The preamble to a recap of the podcast in question, as recorded in Micah 3:5 #WNBA #Unrivaled
kind of a crash course in marxist-feminist cultural studies and ideology critique, as told via a close reading of megan rapinoe and sue bird’s podcast. 🧵

the "and you're surprised by this?" guys have never been less vital than they are right now
One day will be the last that they commit an execution in the streets and we can and must bring that day closer however we can
Anyone telling you NOT to call your member of congress today is an op or under the influence of an op There is literally no reason not to Telling people not to call is not a radical position
Great thread with resources! I’m going to a deportation defense training today and am also going to call Hilton, Home Depot, and Enterprise to demand that they cut ties with ICE. What are others doing?
My group chats are full of Minnesotans reacting to today’s murder by figuring out ways they can help. We need people outside of the state to do the same thing. Whatever you wish everyone else was doing right now? Do it today. Let’s make a list of things that could help.
The anger people have at media institutions and college administrators can’t be detached from this, it’s not just that people can perceive cowardice it’s that they see others with more on the line doing more to stand up for their values than the people who have been trusted to safeguard things
This is the updated, more organized & better than ever way to help in Mpls/ St Paul/ Greater MN. Taking submissions on the site & everything. Look for the ones with non-English language & unfunded, small amounts because they're not getting the love they need.
For ease of navigation and sharing, I have turned my little list into a website: standwithminnesota.org
i hope all the people resisting ICE on the ground know how fucking inspiring they are. minneapolis right now, and chicago and LA and charlotte and DC and portland before them, you’re setting the blueprint for the future battles sure to come. thank you.
“The longer Americans indulge this preference for the language of the law over morality, the weaker their moral voice becomes. They lose the ability to say, forthrightly, that what the Trump administration has done is cold-blooded murder for which they and their partisans should be ashamed.”
The Moral Stupefaction of the American Public
Trump’s actions are illegal, yes. Worse than that, they are wrong—precisely what the legality debate is meant to obscure.

We watch. Watch others watch. The body of a boy lies on the pavement exactly like the body of a boy. It is a peaceful country. And it clips our citizens’ bodies effortlessly, the way the President’s wife trims her toenails. (Ilya Kamensky, from “In a Time of Peace”) poets.org/poem/time-pe...
this is an obvious overcorrection that misleads the polling data and will lead to disaster in the Heartland. the results of tonight show that the Democrats should moderate: adopting two or at most three of the five pillars of Islam
if democrats are serious about winning they need to learn from tonight and convert to islam
That Mahmood Mamdani’s child is poised to become the mayor of New York does make one teeter towards the feeling that anything is possible.
This is one of my favorite interviews we've ever done. Vulnerabilities of queer/feminist mentoring, the cognitive dissonance of institutional "risk management," women's sports: it has every topic you could ever want!
Our latest episode is dedicated to anyone who has ever done work they love in an institutional context where harassment + betrayal are endemic. What pedagogies emerge in/from that dynamic? Can we make institutions that love us back? Jennifer Doyle (@fromaleftwing.bsky.social) talks about it.

🧵*8/29/2025 thread of noncooperation* A daily thread of acts of noncooperation, noncompliance, defiance, & whatnot by individuals, communities, &/or institutions. A movement is just a bunch of people moving. Let's fucking go. * Trump wants to roll in? Chicago has some thoughts about that 💪
Last night, about 60 Chicago activists and organizers gathered to discuss Trump's threatened military occupation of our city. Our convo centered around a worksheet that some friends and I put together this week—a tool that can help us build and strengthen local networks of support and protection.
