she/her/hers writer, by unpopular demand

I think the most “adult who was in a gifted and talented program as a kid” thing I could have done to myself was become an author. Just giving myself endless homework and a need for people to be proud of me forever.

if you ever see someone talk about their WIP and you're curious beyond that snippet/moodboard/etc. but you don't want to bother them - oh my god, you could never! writing can be the loneliest thing. go talk to that person about their story. it's gonna be such a fun time! 💜

Celebrity deaths never hit me, but Dolly was not just a celebrity to us. She was a neighbor — not literally, but close. She and my nana grew up in the same town in Tennessee. She sounds like my people. Her stories sound like our’s. To take from my nana today: “We were blessed to have her.”

The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️

The Swing Riots took place in eastern and southern England in the years between the Luddite uprising and the Rebecca Riots. One of the hallmarks of the riots was the destruction of threshing machines – but that’s just part of the story. Listen here: omny.fm/shows/stuff-...

The background features a hand-colored historical illustration of the Swing Riots, showing villagers rushing through a rural village as a thatched-roof house burns, sending large red flames and black smoke into the sky. People carry belongings, operate a hand-pumped fire hose, and gather around carts and livestock, creating a scene of unrest and urgency. am I allowed to be annoyed at historical fiction novels that advertise one era and then show a completely different era of fashion? Like, ma’am, that’s not regency that’s 1830s. Look at that Cindy Lou Who hair! Those big ass sleeves! 1830s!! Instagram makes me grumpy

feeling motivated so, the current two projects on my slate. genuinely excited about both of them, and about the other things I’m working on. writing has been hard this year, and last year, but I’m more comfortable with that these days than I used to be.
