i first started writing fanfiction when I was 7. I filled several of these notebooks and they were all handwritten. I switched to writing on a computer when I was 10 i think???

I have no idea how old I was but I know I was in middle school when I first started writing. I'm 34 now so I'll let you do the math lol. Middle school was a huge turning point for me cause that's when I got into anime. I did stop writing for almost 15 years but picked it back up 4 years ago 💖

The year was 2001, I finished watching Fushigi Yuugi, and realized I had the power to PUT MYSELF IN THE STORY. No digital files remain, but baby me printed the whole thing out. It still sits on my bookshelf in all its self-insert glory to this day.

I was in Year 8, obsessed with the band Hanson and discovered a crappy old Geocities website where a girl hosted other people's fics, kind of a primitive Ao3. And I thought, yes absolutely.

I was recently reminded that I was in middle school using my grandma’s computer to write high school musical fanfic and emailing it to my dad so that I could write it on his computer when I got back home

First was technically an epic She-Ra and Cinderella crossover I hand-bound (stapled) and illustrated (in marker) in the early 80s. First internet fic was La Femme Nikita het on a bulletin board in 1997. First slash was some time between 1999 and 2001: Highlander. On lj. Of course.

Only 2 years ago. Before that I only considered myself a reader and never thought of writing until I got into one of my current fandoms (VS Ambivalenz). I had so many plot and AU ideas for it that the moment I found out VSA has less than 50 fics on AO3 I just… went ahead and write
